1st Day in the Crate - I'm worried!

OK, so I'm a huge worry-wort, but today is Sarge's first day in the crate. He's 9 months old today, and has never been in one. I introduced it to him over the last couple of days, just letting him check it out, roam in and out and put him in there for about an hour/hour and a half yesterday while I'm was mopping, etc. But today is the big one - and I am worried about my baby!!!!!!! I left him with his bed, stuffed Kong, his baby, his ball and some water; so I know that he will be entertained. I also put it by the low window in there so he can have a "view". I guess I just need some support and y'all tell me that my baby will be okay!

Bella recently was crated for the first time at the age of 21 months and I too was a basket case the entire day at work. I felt like such a bad mom and had all these horrible thoughts of what she was doing while no one was home. But she was fine and I'm sure Sarge will be too!

Be careful when you open the crate door. Bayleigh would shoot out like a rocket!

He will probably be full of extra wiggles and kisses for you tonight, so be prepared! Other than that, I am sure he will be fine. Just be sure you give him plenty of exercise now that you are crating him, otherwise he may turn into the uncontrolable crazy hyper dog :eek: LOL Hang in there, the day is already half over!

He'll be in there until about 5 p.m. - a total of about 8 hours today. Most days, I would go home to let him out to potty, run for a bit, etc., but just can't get away. From all that I've read, 8 hours isn't too much for a dog that old. I just feel SO guilty. :(

No need to feel guilty!! He's got plenty of things to play with and he's probably just resting up for when you come home and its playtime! I understand how you feel though ... its not easy on us to leave them in there all day but its best for them. And 8 hours isn't that long ... Moab used to be crated for almost 10 because of DH and I both having a long commute to work and back. He was always fine ... just happy to see us and with lots of energy to burn off!

He did GREAT!!!!!!!! No accidents and boy was he happy to see me! I let his "big brother", Hoover, come in and they are playing like crazy men. LOL I'm so proud of my baby! YAAAAAY!!!!!

Good boy Sarge!! I`m sure it was alot harder on you than it was on him. How we worry about our babies. They all have us wrapped around their paws!

Glad to hear he did well! Isn't it amazing how we worry and fret over them and they just roll along with life?
