18 year old Boxer!

I was walking my girl after my evening run and I ran into a neighbor who had a boxer that was 18 years old.

The dog moved a little stiffly from arthritis, but seemed happy and healthy. I hope my girl lives that long!

I've never heard of such a wonderful thing! Awesome! Imagine 18 years with one of these silly, sweet, smushy faces, life is indeed very, very good.

WOW!!! Any secrets they can share? Food, etc. I would give anything to keep my babies with me that long lovicon I met a man in Maine once with a fifteen year old boxer and when I asked what he fed her he said, "Whatever is left over" I can only assume he had a very healthy diet

Wow, that is amazing.
My terrier cross lived to be 18 1/2 yrs old, but small dogs generally live longer than large dogs.
So that is awesome.

My inlaws have a springer spaniel that just turned 17 a few days ago. She's pretty rickety physically, but her spirits and appetite are puppy-like. With her athritis, they're afraid this winter will be too much for her though. :(

As far as any secrets, I'm not sure. I know like that man in Maine, their springer eats whatever it is they're having for dinner. She eats dog food too, but I know it's definitely some cheap bottom of the barrel kibble. But yeah, every night she gets a people dinner plate of food wheither it's soup, stew, spagetti, meat, veggies whatever.....

My Cody's maternal grandfather just passed away 6 months ago at the ripe old age of 15. I hope some of those long lasting genes made it to my boy. I would love to have 15 years with his sweet self.
