Our Emma (the Pemma) has been on Royal Canin Low Fat for 2 yrs now since the vet determined her increasing diahrea problem was a food allergy to fats. Beginning two years ago, when we took her in for having briefly stumbled into a wall, and recently happening more frequently, she has been tremorring and stumbling. Numerous tests have indentified only an apparently enlarged heart.

We are now however satisfied that her collapsing was the result of low blood sugar so have split up her feedings from 2 halves to four quarters over the waking day. This has apparently treated the collapsing symptoms (thank goodness). I do still however sense that this condition is still worsening so have now added multigrain bread (for additional carbs) and skim milk (for a low fat ingredient to coat the intestinal linings to moderate digestion rate over longer periods). This too is helping but like I said, I still think we are quietly losing ground and will soon need something better.

My question is:

Does anyone know who I might ask if Emma's entire food issues are the result of a single malabsorbtive disorder that can be treated more effectively than with the Canin LF, skim milk and bread we are currently using?

Thanks everyone.

Had you considered consulting a holistic vet for her? Someone like that could probably give you some good dietary suggestions (probably either raw or homecooked). If you're interested in looking into that, there is a holistic vet locator in a sticky thread at the top of the holistic care forum :)
