I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is never easy to lose one of our babies, but it is even worse with a youngster.

To try and answer your questions. This would not have been related to his color. There are a few problems with whites, mainly deafness, but they are no more prone to other problems than their colored siblings. It does sound like a heart problem, but it is really impossible to tell for sure. It could have been many things.

If you feel you are ready, I would say, yes start your search for another puppy. You will never be able to replace Domino, but you can fill your hearts with another loving puppy. It will help your kids, also.

Even though there are never any guarantees, I would recomend you find a puppy from a breeder that health tests and have the new puppy checked by your vet, before you take him home. AS & SAS can be detected at a very early age. Boxer Cardiomyopathy cannot be detected as a puppy.

And don't feel guilty about letting him play with the other dogs. This would have happened no matter what. He had a great time playing!

Just wanted to add our condolences. Sometimes it seems there is no good reason...Xena's mother passed in a freak accident at the breeder's.

I would also say it is most likely not related to his color. His symptoms do sound similar to what I've heard discussed regarding heart conditions, but I'm no expert.

Best of luck healing your pain, and hug your twins. They will eventually understand that death is part of life.

It's so hard to lose a loved one, but especially when it's so sudden and unexpected. And while you may never know exactly why he passed, please know that you did your best and Domino knows that and I'm sure he loved you and your family sooo much in his short time here!

My heart goes out to you for your loss of Domino. It is hard to explain how hard the loss of our Boxers are to those who have never had one.

I don't know which is worse, to lose one so young unexpectedly, or to see an old friend's health failing him later in life. Neither is easy to bear.

I can only speak for myself. Our home was a morbid place after Rocky left us. It seemed a joyless place. In reality it wasn't, but, something was definitely missing. He meant so much to us, we had to have another.

Indy has never replaced Rocky, and he wasn't meant to. It can't be done, and from your initial post, you recognize that. But, another Boxer can and will bring joy and life to your home once again.

Keep your chin up, and be thankful for the time you had with Domino. I know, it's one thing to say, but not that easy to do. We all ask, why or how?

We wouldn't have traded Rocky for Indy or Ava, but we wouldn't give up either were it possible to get him back. Life does not always seem fair, but our joys are measured by the depths of our sorrows.

Were you not to feel sorrow at the loss of your "baby" would be a worse tragedy, for it would indicate that he didn't mean much to you. The more precious our friends and family, the deeper the grief at their loss.

I am so sorry to hear about your baby. My heart goes out with you. I would strongly suggest that you contact your breeder. They may want you to get an autopsy. The breeder may want to know if it was a genetic problem or not and an autopsy is really the only way you will know. It is a painful thing for you but it may help too. Again I am so sorry!

Oh My, I am so sorry for you and your family. I surely don't have any answer as Sophie is our first boxer and we haven't had any experience with losing a boxer. I do know that this is easier said than done, but do try to remember the good times with Domino and that you and your family gave him a good and loving home for his short 10 months. I have to believe that each baby boxer is put in our care for a reason...whatever that might be. I know when I saw my Sophie for the very first time, I whispered to my husband..."She is the one!" I intentially moved away from her but by the end of the visit (several other puppies) we were bonded forever, for however long we are allowed to be together.
Please know you are in our prayers and that Domino is running with the wind! Patty

I am terribly sorry for your loss. Many people here on the boards have lost their boxers young and have gone through the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing. I think it is a personal decision as to whether or not you should get another boxer. Everyone grieves differently. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
