Currie is getting better

They let Currie go home after spending two night’s at the vet. I’m glad they said she was feeling better and could go home because my husband and I had already decided we were taking her home that day no matter what they said. If she was still sick we would find another vet.
She seems to be doing better. They sent home two set’s of meds and some caned food but didn’t ever say exactly what was wrong with her. They want me to take her back in a week for another round of blood test to make sure everything is back to normal.
Now I have to find a way to put the pounds back on her!

Currie is healing!

Currie’s sickness progressed to the point we worried she would die. She wasn’t breathing well and couldn’t sleep or eat. She was so tired and thin she looked awful.
I took all her test results and consulted another vet. He ran a couple tests and consulted with the vet's at KU.
He diagnosed her with Ehrlichia - a disease carried by ticks. This is strange because I have only found 1 tick on her. So it goes to show that it only takes one or as the vet suggested they could be so small they fall off before I see them.
Our new vet gave her a couple shots and her condition was improving within hours. She is now on doxycycline, Prednisone and over the counter Tagament.
She is eating, breathing normally and getting better each day!
We are so relieved and very happy with our change in vet’s.

GREAT NEWS!
I would inclined to call the original vet who was unable to make an accurate diagnosis and tell them what ended up happening. Also tell them what the CORRECT diagnosis was and that she was/is being treated and improving daily.
It might not get you anywhere but at least this vet *may* be on the lookout for these same symptoms if another dog was to present in a similar fashion.
