Now that is what I call an excellent post!

:) :)

P.S. Chad, I beg you to reconsider your thought that if you could find a female to breed your male to you would (A response from a different topic). If you love your Mav as much as I think you do, then you don't want any of his progeny to die in a pound somewhere like Julie described, do you?

I have some questions for Chad and anyone else thinking about breeding their males. Do you realize that just because you own the male does not relieve you of responsibility to the pups they create? That it will be your job to ensure they all go to loving *forever* homes, and that if for some reason the owners can't keep them & the owners of the dam will not take them back, that you are *equally* as responsible for the fate of these dogs???

Are you prepared to spend some big bucks to ensure that your dog is healthy, and to do the research into his pedigree to make sure that he doesn't have i.e. cardiomyopathy in his line? Hip dysplasia?

What kind of standards do you plan for these bitches you may breed him to? Titles? Obviously a low priority in this type of breeding.Health? Testing, testing, testing. Temperament. I'm here to tell you that *all* boxers should have a sound temperament and that is insufficient reason to breed any dog.
Are you going to expect the owners of these females to place the pups on spay/neuter contracts? As the owner of the male, you will need to be 100% sure that the people you allow to use your male have the very highest of standards.

This isn't about your dogs "rights" to breed, it is about having a care for the breed as a whole.

please read "breeding white boxers". also, if you think every 'reputable' breeder has all the health checks, id have to say you might want to look into it some more. alright, i appreciate your responses. take care.

This sounds terrible but I am in the military and in Germany the white ones are considered rare and they go for up to $1200. Most of us that know anything about boxers know the truth, but the problem is getting everyone educated.
I just purchased a brand new puppy and the breeder had 5 whites there. They refuse to put them down because they feel that they make great pets, but they still sell them for $350-$450. It's all in someones taste I guess. Fools and their money are easily parted.

That is the whole point, they do make great pets. They shouldn't be "put down" - they are great pets and a person who buys a white boxer is not by definition a fool. People don't research all kinds of purchases and trust me, I'm in the art business, so I know. But they usually eventually discover they were ripped off sooner or later.

I'm shocked to see someone on this board who seems to want to see boxer puppies die!
