10 mth old peeing in the house?!

Coco is now a little over 10 months old. She's done great since about 4 months old with house training. She very rarly has any accidents in the house. Except for the past 2 weeks.

It all started about 2 weeks ago when I had a VERY long day at work. Coco was left in the kitchen for 12 hours straight without a potty break. She did not however pee in the kitchen. I took her outside and she did her business and all was well. The following day she was in the kitchen for the normal work day (9 hrs) and peed in the kitchen. I didn't think it was a big deal until every day since then I've been coming home and she's peed on the floor. Not to mention throughout the night when we are relaxing in the house, she'll find a corner and pee WHILE SHE'S LOOKING AT ME! It's like she's angry with me for leaving her that one day for 12 hours and ever since is making it a point to pee in the house. I take her outside frequently when I am home (at least once an hour) and she does her business but still has her "accidents".

The final straw was last night. We got into bed (yes she sleeps with me) and went to sleep. I woke up at 5 am and had this strong wiff of urine. I felt underneath her thinking maybe she peed in her sleep, but she didn't. I felt around and found a puddle on my comforter up closer to me. She must've peed on my comforter before we went to bed and I didn't realize it. I was ANGRY! I don't understand what is going on! I always take her out before bed and then as soon as we wake up.

Please give me some advice? Do you think she's reverting for some reason or does it sound like a possible UTI?

If she has never done this before I would definitely take her to the vet to rule out a UTI first, then you will know if that is the problem. If not, then you may have to start over with house training.

I agree if it isn't a UTI I would go back to housetraining 101 Foreman has regressions at that age

We've had this same problem with our 6 month old and just this week took her to the vet. Sure enough! UTI! She had a fever and they found blood in her urine. They gave her an injection of antibiotics and put her on medication and she's already doing better. No accidents to speak of since the day we took her in. Good luck!

I took Coco to the vet and sure enough, she has a UTI. They did not find blood in her urine, but they did find protein and a large amount of white blood cells, indicating that she is fighting off some sort of infection. They also found some crystals in her urine. They put her on an antibiotic and when she's finished with her antibiotics, she's to go back in and give another sample. They want to ensure that the crystals go away because if they are still there, then she may have a bladder problem, which would require an x-ray of the bladder and so on. Please say some prayers for her. I hope this antibiotic clears up everything. PRAY PRAY PRAY! Thanks

Glad it's a medical problem and not behavioral! Ask your vet about changing her diet. If she has crystals in her urine, like ours does, she may need to change her diet to a more acidic diet, less alkaline, to reduce the pH in her urine. I was told that the crystals are not a temporary thing. They usually will recur after the antibiotics are finished, if not maintained. Our dog has struvite crystals so she is now on Hill's Prescription Diet C/D. Just a thought. Let us know what happens. Thanks for the update.

That's great, well, no it's not great that she has an infection, but it's great you found out a reason for her peeing in the house.

I was just thinking though, do you leave her for 9 hours EVERY day? Could someone not take her out at mid-day? It seems an awful long time without company.

I have everything crossed that the antibiotics kick in soon
