I agree that's not the correct way to teach a dog. You might try teaching him sit, stay a couple of feet from the door.

It only takes a second for them to get into a whole lot of trouble. I had made a whole platter of boneless fried chicken for dinner. I went to tell everyone supper was done, and everyone came and sat down for dinner. I turned to get the platter, and it was gone. I thought I had lost my mind...

Thats one way of getting you off the computer, and back to giving her the attention she wanted. LOL
