Update!
So my mil was back at the vet visiting her dog and who should be there but our little old German lady to pick up her bouncy, naughty baby (who I've learned is just 1 year old). She and my mil were chatting when they heard her 'baby' coming. The little old lady says to my mil "Oh, I'd...
I was thinking a skateboard would make a nice addition, but rollerblades would work too! Lord I can just picture a short, plump, grey-headed little old lady flying down the street as she's being pulled by her 'baby'.
My mil related the following to me and I laughed SO HARD! I just had to share..
So my mil was waiting at the vet's the other day while her mini-schnauzer was in emergency surgery and struck up a conversation with a couple who was bringing their 'baby'--a young boxer--in to have it's stomach...
Thanks Linda. I guess it's all part of the parcel when we accept a dog into our lives. Logically, I knew he wouldn't live forever; I guess I was just so unprepared when it happened, particularly because he went so suddenly and so young.
I realized today that I haven't made Christmas cookies...
The day came and went. My husband and I only spoke briefly of it. Wilson died in his arms; it is still a tender subject for him too.
Lumpy, whiskery, loving Lara is a source of consolation. Thank God for her, because I feel sure I could never have opened my heart to another dog again after...
Yesterday my husband and I had a good laugh remembering the big smacking sound Wilson's fleshy lips used to make when you threw him a treat, so I guess that's progress. He had the greatest lips, just for kissing.
It is too cruel to lose them young. My heart goes out to you. Somehow you will find a way to go on, but truly you're never quite the same as before they went. I wish you many happy, pain-free memories of Jake.
Wilson has been on my mind so often these last couple of weeks. Next Monday marks the first anniversary of his death.
I can't let myself think about him too often. I still feel the bitterness of his death, how he was taken from us so early. And I remember so acutely what he felt like. Maybe...
Oh why do I keep coming to the rainbow bridge forum?! Apparantly I enjoy crying like a baby..
I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Reading the pain in your initial post brings me right back to when Wilson died. Losing the dog you love truly is one of the hardest things you ever have to...
Truth be told, I dont have the heart to add another dog into the family right now. Our hearts broke when Wilson died. And I know I may be risking some backlash here, but I am not entirely sure I have the heart to have another boxer again. I am scared that this is a breed in trouble. After...
My snuggle puppy Lara seems to have slowed down quite a bit in the last few months. She is not quite 5-1/2. There have been some changes to her lifestyle lately, and I wonder if it's because she's getting older and (finally) settling down, or if there's something else going on.
The biggest...
That is a really super idea. I hope one day I'll be able to do that for Wilson (I don't think I'm quite ready yet. It is hard for me to even think of him without crying.)
I am a quilter, and my sewing teacher suggested that I make something special to commemerate Wilson. She suggested using...
My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I know exactly how you feel!
It sounds like he was incredibly special. Hopefully one day we can look back and remember the wonderful things about our dogs, and not feel the pain of losing them so acutely.
