Both of mine selectively eat grass in the backyard. They don't do it on walks though...in fact I'd never let them eat someone else's grass, since you can not know if the grass was treated with pesticides or fertilizers.
Vet heard a grade 2 heart murmur in my 5 year old Tula. She is very active and never coughs. Vet wanted a chest x-ray done. Should I get the xray? How effective is an xray at detecting any problems? Maybe go to a cardiologist for the Doppler?
This was Tula's first time at our new vet. Our...
I'm gonna wait it out and hope the new food makes a difference.
The vet gave us some antibiotic pills, shampoo and wipes for his paws. They had bacteria infection from being chewed raw.
They also suggested Atopica, so I'm waiting for those pills. Man this is expensive!
Chance's itching has not improved. His paws are so red from chewing and his face has been scratched raw. How long does it take for a food allergy to go away?
I'm beginning to think it's more than just a food allergy. He was also borderline on bluegrass and half of our backyard is kentucky...
Thanks Jan.
I'm going to stick with controlled feeding. Then I'll have more options as to the different foods I can feed them.
Tula is also starting to devour her portion almost as fast as Chance. :)
I ended up getting some California Natural lamb meal & rice. I'm feeding them separately now, since I'm still using up the previous foods.
Tula is doing good with the controlled feeding. I started mixing in the lamb & rice and that keeps her interested in it. I still need to keep Chance...
I thought about the home cooking...but Tula is a nibbler and Chance is a guzzler. So, Tula has always had access to food because she only eats small bits at a time. I guess If I home cooked, I'd have to feed Tula in a seperate room so Chance doesn't get her food.
This past month, Chance started chewing on his paws until they were really red. Vet thought it was mange so he got the mange (ivermetcin) shots...it still persisted. So I paid for the $300 allergy test and I found out Chance is allergic to potatoes. He's been eating the potatoes & venison bag...
Go Presley!!!...I knew he was going to win when he didn't eat that treat on his paw! She proved how easy he is to train.
Galaxy didn't learn anything and JD was way too cocky. Andrew might as well been carried through the course...that dog is way too dependent on the owner!
Puppy crack... lol...
There is no harm in it...I just don't think it's a healthy state of mind for her. I've been trying the "leave-it" before she goes outside...but she just sits on the porch, waiting for me to throw it outside. I'll keep trying it and see if there is a change.
I think I...
She was fixed right away and never had a litter. I didn't live with her until she was about 1 year old (she is my gf's dog). She was the first dog I ever lived with and we bonded very quickly. I remember playing fetch all day every day. I'd just sit on the couch and keep throwing the ball down...
it is kind of funny :). It's like a pacifier. She's never growled when I take it away, but she usually wants to play tug when I go for it. If I ignore her she will put it on my lap and wait for me to throw it.
I'd say the most annoying thing is that she has to find it before going inside or...
Tula is has been obsessed with balls for as long as I can remember. She loves to play the fetch/tug hybrid game. I stopped doing the tug part around 2 years ago and she still takes a while to drop the ball after fetching.
When she sleeps it's either in her mouth or in her eye sight. When she...
