    My ears are bleeding!!

Hello Boxerworld! Once again I have an issue with my dogs, and I really hope someone here can help! I've read about a gazillion threads on here about correcting demand barking, but I have yet to find one that addresses my particular issue. Since I don't post regularly, let me give you a little...

Please help! Strange growths on both dogs

Total moron Am I ever embarrassed!! I found Lucy's mystery lump on the ground, and guess what-it was moving! I said in my original post that they looked like big old bloated ticks, and indeed they were. With the freezing temperatures, snow, and sleet we've had around here all week, I'd totally...

Please help! Strange growths on both dogs

Thanks to everyone for the speedy and reassuring replies! Sansal-Papilloma came up often in my research and it makes sense being a virus, since both dogs have it. Mileswilson-I am so glad to hear that everything was just fine with your boy, I now know how nerve-wracking it is when something is...

Please help! Strange growths on both dogs

Hello, I'm generally more of a browser than a poster on this site-mainly because there's already so much great information on here!-but after tons of fruitless searching I'm hoping someone out there can help me. Here goes- About six months ago, Willie Nelson got a new boxer sister named Lucy...

    need help leash training

I had the same problem with my now two and half year old, Willie. He never learned to walk properly on a leash, and since he weighs almost as much as I do, he had to learn. What I did first was just randomly say, "Willie, don't pull!" and give him a treat for coming to me. When I knew this was...

Does Anyone Else Have Their Own Take On Commands?

We call shake "nice to meet you," and to sprawl out on the floor is "chill." We use "not yours" for something (treat, clothespins) that we don't want him to pick up and "leave it" on walks for other dogs, cats, squirrels, etc. I tell him to wait for me when he's getting too far away. My favorite...

Hello from Illinois- have two boxers :)

Hello, and welcome to the best boxer forum ever! I have learned so much here and continue to learn each time I log on. I'm from Illinois as well, down near the St. Louis area and have just one boxer, Willie Nelson. Your dogs are beautiful!

Local Pet Store Recommended Baked Potato To Fix Loose Stool!?!?

I've never dealt with this problem myself, but I know my mother-in-law has always given her dogs hamburger and rice when they get the runs. I myself am always really hesitant to give Willie people-food because I never know how his belly might react. Good luck!

    A few issues

I second this! We got Willie very unexpectedly on a Sunday, and both had to go to work the next day (I know, poor guy being alone in a new house!) We left him the garage the first day-one puddle, and that's it. The second day, he got free rein of the house and....no problems! I was shocked...

    Pulling on leash - help!

For the first year or so I had Willie, I used a every manner of halter, harness, and collar to stop him from pulling, but nothing really worked. I'm only about fifty pounds heavier than he is, so something had to change! He was dragging me down the street and choking himself out at the same...

What are your boxers afraid of?

I don't know if anyone's still reading this thread but I have just been laughing my tail off reading some of this stuff and thought I'd add some of Willie's silly little fears. The big one is cicadas...he HATES cicadas. There is one particular tree near our house that has a lot of them in there...

    Is it instinct??

It's funny that I just happened across this post because a similar thing happened with Willie today. He was just barking and barking, and when I went out to look he was doing doughnuts, a million miles a hour around this poor little bird and nudging at with this nose. I don't believe he was...

    Leashless!

I have no idea if I'm right on this or not, as Willie is the first dog I've ever had the responsibility of training, but here's what we've been doing: We put him on a 20-foot leash and in a quiet place, we hold on the leash and practice "come" a few times. Once we have his attention, we just...

    Free Willie

Thanks for the advice. On our walk earlier this evening, we practiced a lot of sitting and staying. My thought was that learning to obey commands he knows, even with so many distractions, might help a little bit. We are definitely going to practice, "Come here Willie!" Thanks again.

    The dog ate my dinner!

That is too funny! Luckily I've not caught Willie anywhere near the counter. He's more of a sneak about it..he will totally ignore us while we're eating dinner, sometimes even go into another room. As soon as we're done and cleaning up, though, he is at my feet begging. And anything left at his...
