My mom has a rubbermaid spray mob in the kitchen. When we visit, any time she wipes down the floor, Kahner stops what he's doing/gets up and goes to take a drink. The wettest drink ever, carrying half the water in his jowls to drop on the floor. Its funny to watch the two of them duke it out...
If she does so well off leash, would it be possible to have her drag the leash when you're out in your current neighbourhood (so that you have it attached should you need it)?
Glad it went better. What I don't understand is a group class with dogs that clearly aren't ready for that - dog reactive, thundershirts... crates? Do they not assess the dog before accepting it into the class?
Am I the only one to disagree? Maybe. I don't believe owning a boxer means you'll have to go through what you mentioned - destruction of objects or house. Kahner (4) a rescue came to live with me as an adult and I was told he was very high energy. Cora (4) has been with me since she was 8 weeks...
Why is the mrs "asking" him down? Tell/instruct/command him off - don't give him any choices. Gotta dig deep. You can help with this. Physically removing him from the bed yourself won't teach/do what you're looking to do. He's got to get off himself. Is he crate trained? Possible to crate him...
Was on TOTW before also - until the first rumors of trouble. Switched to a number of brands including Acana and Orijen. Neither my girl or boy did well on them. They've both been doing amazing on "NOW! Grain Free".
Honestly, I wouldn't stress. I would not visit the park when he's there and let Duke socialise with other dogs instead. Some owners are real nut jobs and there isn't anything you can say or do to change that so my advice would just be to avoid. You don't want to start getting nervous, scared etc...
I had a lot more success with a regular martingale than the gentle leader. You don't want to let her pull. You want to catch it while you still have slack on the leash. Don't jerk her back or anything. For me pulling back (fairly) quickly to get the collar to tighten and right away release...
Well its all been said already - unneutered pup who's scared, confused, full of energy. I sure hope you're not leaving him outside during the day too. I agree with you though that this is not up for debate. You HAVE TO change your way of thinking and what you're doing. You'll be lucky if one of...
I started mixing Wellness (grain free) canned meat with one of his meals - yes he eats twice a day. I've done 2cups per meal and he seems to maintain good stool. I was just worried about giving more because I wasn't sure how much more. He isn't good on Acana, Orijen... higher protein stuff...
Keep the door to the bedroom (mom's - where she's doing it) closed and keep Maggie out of the room. Find sometimes if they get into a bad habbit, preventing it from happening now is enough to stop it from happening again in the future. I would keep the door closed and Maggie out for a few weeks...
I don't know but I can't imagine having a dog and never leaving it alone. So if it was me I wouldn't focus on avoiding leaving him alone, but on teaching him to be alone. I would start on crate training while i'm home. Sounds like he needs a lot of supervision to start. With time/practice...
I haven't boarded with my dogs, but so long as your dog is controllable (either commands or leash) you should be ok. A longboard would be hard to stop/slow if she decided to chase something for example and not listen. Guess you could just jump off too if your knees let you.
I have the Alpine...
If he's not used to something he might need time to adjust. I know my boxers would much rather be with me than crated but just because they want/prefer something doesn't mean its going to happen. I wish I could bring my dogs with me everywhere too but I can't. You can get a dog comfortable in a...
