I lost Finn my remaining boxer 2 weeks ago and like you I miss having a boxer around but the cancer puts me off getting another. I lost both of mine to bone cancer in just over 2 years.
Hopefully will be brave enough to get another one of these days like yourself.
Finn had it but it disappeared over the years. All his bloods were good so cholesterol and calcium deposits were ruled it. It started in one eye and moved to both.
Our vet has been following that schedule for a while. Only core vaccines at 1, 4, 7, 10 years with lepto and PI yearly :) So far so good :)
Is this a new thing in the US?
Not a diagnosis you want to hear :(
When you say chest do you mean lungs? I recently lost Star to bone cancer and unfortunately it had reached her lungs and nose which meant for us it was too far advanced for anything but palliative care.
If I were in your shoes I would be tempted to try...
Finn had them for a while. We were sent to the vet school to see a specialist and thats what he said they were. His cholesterol was good as was the rest of his results. I noticed recently that they have disappeared so will get him checked out again soon.
Definitely work a vet visit.
Boxerworld was the first website I joined when I got Star and over the years it has been a great help to me :)
Unfortunately in December Star was diagnosed with bone cancer in her skull which has spread to her nose and lungs and we were faced with no choice but to let her go when her nose...
Finn had/has them occasionally during the time of year his allergies are bad although its been a few years since I have noticed them. His head would go from side to side and if I got his attention it stopped immediately.
That is exactly what happened with Star. We had no symptoms at all until the abscess burst and the swelling became noticeable. She had them emptied at the vet as the side with the abscess was impacted and a long course of antibiotics seemed to clear it up thankfully.
Unfortunately a year...
I have a small hand held steam cleaner which I use along with a clean cloth, then leave to dry. It is also handy to get rid of the other molds in the home too.
Yes it is :( which makes it harder to avoid. An air purifier has helped Finn during his bad time of year.
RE dried food - Finn is also allergic to the storage mites and we have found that by keeping his food in airtight containers which are steam cleaned each refill and by washing his face...
Poor Casper :(
One of Finn's allergies is Cladosporium. Its the first time I have heard of it in another boxer. Thankfully its a seasonal one that usually only lasts from now til
Nov/Dec.
