the night before, i was holding the book and trying to teach him to turn off the lights. he almost got it (in about an hour), but then we went out the next afternoon and came home to this - i sort of got the impression he wasn't into tricks!

That reminds me of when I was a kid and would destroy all the things that I knew would be used against me at some point... ie. paddle ball paddles...
