What would/should a show quality 4 month old look like?

Call me crazy, but I've been quite interested in measuring up little Mella to the boxer standard. (i.e. is her nose 1/3 of her head?) I even found a page with pictures of dogs that supposedly look like the standard. http://www.worldwideboxer.com/index.html Hey, I'm new at this and visualizing the words is a bit hard. What would a show- quality pup look like at about 4 months?

If you want to send me to your web page, or put photos of her in the Gallery, I can take a look for you. Post head on, side shot of head, free stacking either side and perhaps sitting up pretty :) There are many areas of the Boxer body to judge against the breed standard.

If she was bred by a breeder active in the show ring, they would be your best resourse for an appraisal. It is not easy to breed that next show winner. The Boxer ring is pretty tough and they judging can be quite fickle (sp?).

And of course, at 4 months it's a crapshoot whether the puppy will actually look that way as an adult....as Pat Hastings say, look at them at 8 weeks, and then DON'T LOOK again until they're mature. :)

Hi Heather. I don't know if this will help - but whatI have been doing is looking on-line at pictures from dog shows. Here is a site that I found that looks like fun, but I don't know if they are doing it anymore:

They have a lot of pictures to look at and it may give you an idea of how your puppy compares with others. Some of the PawPrint Boxers are in there (of Course!! Cuz they are so gorgeous!)
My puppy is about 6 weeks younger than yours, and I am always wondering the same thing. Of course I love her to bits and I think she is wonderful -but I wonder how close she is to the standard, if it would be fun to enter her in local dog shows -or would I be laughed out of the ring? I have seriously considered agility too, but I have heard that you shouldn't get them started in that too early.
BTW Your pup is a cutie :)
