Shorter Boxers

I have noticing alot more shorter boxers around. I have asked owners at AKC sanctioned agility events if there dog meets the breed standard and they have told me that they do. Is this true for all AKC events - obedience, breed, etc.?

The breed standard only applies to conformation judging (i.e., dogs in performance events are not judged on how well they adhere to the standard in any way, only on how well the perform their tasks). I'm surprised, though, that you are seeing shorter Boxers - in most areas they're getting taller! Or, it could be that you're used to seeing taller dogs and so the dogs that are within standard height look smaller. (My oldest girl is 1/2" above the low end of the standard, but everyone seems to think she's tiny.)

One of the ladies I was talking to at an AKC sanctions agility trial explained it to me that it is just a different line of Boxer, what ever that means. And my boy is actually about 1 inch taller than the standard and weighs in at 77 lbs. Aside from this his confirmation is great. You could be correct in that I am used to looking at taller Boxers. The smaller ones just seem so much smaller than him. Thanks
