Question about snout

I do not care if he is a standard Boxer or not, but my question is, is it due to poor breeding for a Boxer to have a longer than normal snout?

Marvel's vet says she sees the Boxer in him, which he does have the same body structure, boxes with his feet constantly, and has the temperament and personality. But, a lot of people around here seem to think he is a Pitbull and are quite scared of him because he doesn't look the normal Boxer part. So, for those of your who own Boxers and are more familiar with the breed than I am, does he look like a Boxer? (Marvel is my first Boxer pup. He is currently 4 months old!)

I'm not an expert by any means, but he looks like a boxer pup to me! We used to get questioned about Rocky when he was a little younger. In my opinion, I think it's the eyes. Your boy also looks to be a German Boxer, just like Rocky. Either way, I know my baby is a total sweetheart, so if someone thinks he looks mean, they can stay away. They are also missing out on some serious boxer wiggle butt love!

Omg! I love watching him try to wag his tail that he doesn't have! That little stub isn't the only thing that wiggles, half of his body joins in! It is so stinking cute, especially when he starts wiggling so hard he can't stand up without loosing his balance.

I know his muzzle is longer than normal, but body wise, temperament, and personality wise, he is all boxer.

My neighbors in our neighboring apartment building are actually scared of him because even though his vet records and what not says Boxer, they look at him and say he is a Pitbull and WILL attack their little dogs. Marvel has GREAT manners. He doesn't lung or jump on a leash, sits at my feet patiently, and knows the "Watch me" command when dogs are around or passing him, but to no avail, people are still afraid of him. He is energetic, like every puppy, but he wouldn't hurt anyone or another dog by any means. My son's 1 year old male cat is his best friend!

Some people are just plain ignorant. Try to not let your neighbour's comments upset you ... just let your boy's sweet personality continue to prove them wrong.

My girl has a long snout ... and I intentionally chose a boxer with a long snout as it is so hot here. Her litter mates had the typical short, more scrunched up snout. Her face has changed quite a bit as she has become older. I think as a young pup she looked kind of like a fawn version of Marvel ... but now I think, long snout, or not, there is no mistaking that she is a boxer. I am sure that Marvel will grow into his Boxer-ism too

I don't let people's comments bother me. The way I look at it, he has the temperament, personality, and body build of a Boxer, therefore, he is a Boxer. Granted, I have never seen a Boxer with a longer nose, but I have to admit, with the heat we have been having here in West Virginia, I like the look of the longer nose, plus he can be outside a little longer. He is my sweet, lovable boy!

He looks all boxer to me! You can always get him DNA tested if you want to know for sure.

Are the DNA tests reliable and worth the money?
I have had countless people tell me that they aren't worth the money because they are very accurate.

I thought they were accurate. People on this board have had them done and were happy with the results. Maybe it depends on where you get them done.

Well, even if they aren't, his next vet visit I am going to see about getting one done just for curiosity reasons.
