“My Wobbly Friend” – by Bill Peters 2012

She was an angel when I needed saving
She was a warm hug when I was down
She made every day better
After my drive from downtown
Long nights and early mornings
We did everything we could
She adopted me and kept me strong
The times were so good
Snoring on the couch beside me
Her head laying in my lap
Was the most relaxing sound
Always caused me to need a nap
We broke all the rules
She was always by my side
Ready to defend me from anyone
Or to save me from my pride
She showed me how to care
How to love and how to cry
She is my wobbly friend
It's so hard to say goodbye
Now I'm left with memories
Pictures of an innocent face
Of a love between a boy and a dog
That could never be replaced
We fought the odds and life
We just powered through
I didn't think I'd be able to survive
A life without having you
I cried the night I let you go
Like a child losing his best friend
I dreamed of you all night long
I didn't want the dream to end
You said you jumped at a chance
To visit me one more time
Until the day we reunite
And again you can be mine
In my dream you could talk
Like I always thought you could
You sat me down in the grass
The things you told me made me good
There's no reason to be sad
I feel so much better now
Think of all the times we had
And you'll be okay my friend
I can see the sun and the stars
I can smell the rain in the air
I can finally run again and
Chase the other puppies over there
We play all day and eat all we want
The treats and toys are everywhere
I'll keep playing close to the rainbow bridge,
Until you come to meet me there.
Thank you for the memories friend
You are still my whole world
Just look at our pictures and think of
Me,
And know that I'm a happy girl!
From time to time you'll feel me
Brushing up against your skin
Just the memories of a long lost friend
Trying to comfort you again
I'll always watch over you
And see you in your dreams
I'm watching your little girls now
We are playing in the sunbeams
Each day brings a new adventure
Heaven is an amazing place
Every morning I rush to the water
Just so I can see your face
The water here lets us see your world
We can watch you all day long
I play a while and run back to see you
The smile on your face tells me nothing's wrong.
My life with you was perfect
Though I know you wanted to do more
You had to work to take care of us
Just know I never wanted more
You made me so very happy
Just being beside me at home
And though I couldn't tell you
I think you have always known
Just know I'll love you always
I'll miss you until I see you again
You were master, my protector,
And as always, my best friend.
As the years go flying by
With this happy life ahead
I pray you will think of me
