Italian standard Boxers vs german

Are they thicker than the German standard type Boxers?

Does any body know of German type standard breeders here in the U.S.?

I also like American Bulldogs. Alot of them look like Boxers but only thicker. Did Boxers come from the american Bulldog type dog?

Italy and Germany both follow the FCI standard, which we know is not much different from the AKC standard. As far as conformation, very generally Italian Boxers seem to have pretty much the same strengths and weaknesses as German Boxers.

I don't know of any new German lines in the US, just the ones that have already been discussed.

I think you're going to have more luck finding the Boxers whose conformation, temperament and health appeals to you, without worrying about what country they're from.

American Bulldogs have the same roots as Boxers, most notably the old English Bulldogs, but they are a much newer breed (developed in the 1970s).

I have a part Italian, import boxer bitch who is short, stocky and as muscular as anything!!!
She has a slightly different head from my English/Dutch bred lines but is the same in temperament except she loves to "work".
Hopefully she will become a good schutzhund trained boxer for me.

She has a mix of Germanic and English lines also , but I think she looks probably more German, as in her slightly shorter stockier stature.
Not all German boxers are short and stocky but many that are "worked" are.
I guess wherever one goes they will find boxers of variation as we now simply have EVERY countries boxers, spread all over the world.
To breed a type , one simply has to stick to a certain look or line and that type will become predominant.
I have watched many boxers from many countries and although we may "type cast" them, they are truely all just variations of the breed standard.
