Furniture or No furniture?

Bo is 8 years old now and I have always kept him off the furniture. I have two step stools that I put on the couch when we leave and always shut our bedroom door or he will lay on the bed. Lately though, my hubby has been letting him up on the couch. I still set it up when I leave but when I get home I will notice that the pillows are on the floor. Sometimes if it takes him long to get to the door to greet me I know he is on the couch takeing a nap. He thinks he is being sneaky, but I know better. I will sometimes feel the couch as soon as I walk in the door and it will be nice and warm. Your Busted!!! He always just gives me that Boxer look.

we let both of our girls on the couch, i love it when i was growing up my parents wouldn't let our saint bernard on the couch and i hated it! so when i got married and we got our 1st dog she was immediately introduced to the couch the second too

But of course they are allowed on the furniture & bed!!! Would I make my skin kids sit on the floor? LOL My furbabies are my babies..they have the same privliges that our skin kids do!!! LOL

I love having my baby snuggle on the couch and in bed with me. The only thing I really restrict him from is the coffee table. I don't want wet tonges and roaming noses in the ashtray, sodas, food or whatever else happens to be on it at the time. In another couple of weeks his head will be dead level with it and i can see a problem arising. He has so much but is only interested in what he can't have and then looks at you like he is being mistreated. Gotta love emlovicon

Trinity is allowed on what she pleases! At first I was the one that said no, not on the bed or the couch. Yeah right the first night we got her she slept all snuggled next to me on the bed! I love it when she cuddles with me so there's no way I couldn't allow her up on the furniture! We have a black leather couch so it is easier to keep it clean, but I know even if it was fabric she'd still be laying her head there! My parents and my IL's can't even tell her sweet little face no!

Hailey is allowed on all the furniture, when she isn't up there with us we are looking around to find her so she can come up as it is weird without her. She loves to curl up in a ball on the couch and rest her head on the pillows and give that "sucky" face to get some attention, or to say come and cuddle with me.:rolleyes: A good vacuum gets the hair off and we have found that using the sticky side of a roll of duct tape takes the hair away too.

Ginger was allowed on the sofa, now she gets the chair only, it is called "her chair". She does not wreck anything but from the daily vacuuming my couch and sofa are wearing away and getting holes. I have already turned the cushions over. Looks like we are due for new furniture soon.:D I may get leather next time.

What worries me is that your husband's attitude is liable to cause problems between the two dogs down the line.

Pack hierarchy is about privilege. If one has a privilege and the other doesn't, it can cause jealousy and rankor among the middle pack members.

When the boxer gets to be big enough and feels he should be getting all (if not more) privileges that the other dog gets, then there will be fighting, guarding, etc., etc. which you are going to have to deal with. Not easy either.

I agree with LVNBOXERS: We all shed. Tell your husband that when he stops shedding, the dog will stop as well and then they BOTH will be allowed on the furniture again. Till then, he and the dog are resigned to the floor! That ought to change his mind.

Thanks Dan! I shall print out your post and give it to him! I didn't realize that it would cause problems. I guess it is starting with Oskar sneaking up in the couch already.

Conrad is allowed on the couches.. I know he sheds but I do not really notice it on the furniture.
