Can it really be 7 years?

All day yesterday I kept calling Arabella the wrong name. I repeatedly called her Star. I couldn't understad why. I realized today, that yesterday was the anniversay of Star's passing.

Star was my first Boxer baby. And she lived up to the name, as she certainly was a star. While all of our Boxer babies are special, she was especially so. There is only one one person that she never truly won over, and that was our mailman. (The poor guy had been bitten by eight different dogs up to that point in his career and there was no changing his mind about dogs.) She would just make friends with everyone. Everywhere we went, people would call her a "cool dog", and we went a lot of places!

Her full name was Lone Star. We were living in El Paso, TX when we got her and she had one white mark on the back of her neck, like a lone star. He start in life was rocky. Because of her, I now know how bad backyard breeding can be. Within the first week of having her she was in and out of the vet's office. She had parvo and coccidia at the same time. Thankfully we had a great vet, and she lived through that. Her poor immunity system was shot though, and she suffered from severe allergies the rest of her life. She rarely let that slw her down though!

As I said she went a lot of places. We took her Carlsbad Caverns. She wasn't allowed in the caverns but she had fun going all around them, She has been to Houston and New Orleans. We took her on a road trip weekend up through New Mexico. She was my first hiking buddy and did trails from Texas, to Georgia and Virgina. She was also my first Doggle wearing dog. She went just about everywhere I went. And you know how most dogs will choose one owner over another? Not her! She was an equal opportunity loving dog!

As I said it has been 7 years since she passed away. She lived 10 wonderful years. That is pretty amazing considering we weren't sure she was going to make 10 weeks. Love and miss you Baby Girl!975_3408464830721_1498738063_n.jpg

What a lovely tribute to your beautiful Star. Though they are no longer with us in this world, they are forever in our hearts and memories.

Tears filled my eyes as I was reading your post. Star was a beautiful boxer inside and out and she was so blessed to have you in her life and I know you were blessed as well to have had such a wonderful girlie. What a perfect name for a perfect boxer and I believe her long lifespan was because of all the love she received. Hugs to you.
