Boxer Bashers Did you see Dallas Morning News?

Connemara Park was in the Dallas morning News in the Living section 3-22-03. The article was on page 3C. by Larry Powell.
It stated that the park is not a dog park or a people park but a conservation area! It also said pay attention to where your dog goes because Plano has a leash law and dogs can only be unleashed in fenced areas and Connemara is NOT a fenced area.

It also stated that there had been an unusual amount of growth in in the number of visitors espcially dog owners. There are complaints of owners not "picking up" after their pets and it being all concentrated in one area. They plan to post rules about visitation for both dogs and humans to protect the conservation area.

It has a number for contacting the Connemara Conservancy Foundation for more information or connemaraconcervancy.org

Sounds like we might be loosing our Boxer Bash Area!!!!

well, kaiser, lola, barclay, niko and her foster brother lance made it out to the park on saturday. i dont think niko likes the rain too much as she was a bit unhappy with the situation, but we were only out there for about 15 minutes.

Well you should have heard what those KIDS said to the dogs that did make it out there!!

And yes sadly, Niko WAS showing her age and prolly wasn't happy with the weather :( I tell you what, I had a talk with her, I think it is just cabin fever... if it was like 3 total or maybe 4 dogs total and they were all playing and having a great time, Niko would be the one going along, but if there were more than 4, she would be telling them to stop doing whatever they are doing!! At home, she plays so good and so long, that whenever someone comes over and they sit and watch her playing with another dog (ie Lance) they are amazed at how much energy and how gentle she is while playing, she also is very loud... BUT at the park, she was playing, and playing VERY rough, even though there were only us few... she got Lola (SORRY BABE) down and was holding her there and it seemed even to me, that she was playing too rough... as I am typing this, she has Lance on the bed, his feet up in the air, and he is growling playfully at her (he doesn't usually make noise) and she is getting him, after a few minutes, she goes away, and he gets her from behind, and they go running and chasing and biting and boxing, she does act sooooo different at the park..... wish you guys could see how she really is ...

Other than that, we did go out there, and it was raining a bit, not hard, but a lot, and we saw Joe Boxer and Abbey leaving, and we saw Barclay, Lola and Kaiser there .... but I bet by next month, we'll have 20 boxers there, and the weather will be great!!!!

Okay.. so those people out there at their family picnic, who apparently DO NOT LIKE DOGS were griping at every dog that went near them.
I repeatedly heard them shouting "GET AWAY DOGS! GET AWAY DOGS!". ARGH!
So- although, they have a right to be there and fly their kites, etc- I think that it's unreasonable to take kids- who they were clear in telling me are TERRIFIED of dogs- to a park where there will be dogs- leashed, OR even unleashed. I'm a parent, too. I would never take my child and expose her to something I know shes terrified of.
There are probably more than 100 parks in Plano and Allen, I'm guessing- and they choose to go to 1 of 2 where dogs run free???!!

And- I don't think that a friendly dog wanting to "greet" a human should be considered bad behavior. What can I say? My dogs are social- they want to say HI to everyone, both humans and dogs. Not like they're tackling people, either- they don't jump up. Just wanted a sniff and a pat on the head, then I get yelled at by the father.. unbelievable.

Sorry, just venting- but how frustrating that was out there.. :(

Just thought i would finally introduce myself....

I live here in Mc Kinney and actually i think have met a couple members out at conmara(sp?) before and found out about this site through them. At the time, keeloh was a small puppy and we were trying to decide on a name, started with Biggs, changed it to Keeloh.
I couldn't ever register because i didn't have an email address that would permit it, thats been taken care of. Anyways, i have a fawn male boxer, Keeloh, that LOVES to visit the park. We look forward to meeting you all out there and attending the bashes now that we can see when they are! Attached is a picture of Keeloh even though its not the best. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid59/p7fd6c1620f1136c3adbbff4813369a9f/fc5c9a9b.jpg

Keeloh is a good looking dog. We are selling our home and have been packing away, but hopefully we'll be able to bring Bailey out this Saturday. Just let us know a time.

Do we have a time?

Have we decided on a time to meet? Are we still meeting this weekend? We are about 2 1/2 hours away so I don't want to drive up there to play by ourselves! :D Thanks!
