    Going for his neuter

Neuter Don't worry he will be fine. These people shouldn't be total strangers if your pet has been going in for his puppy visits. Plus boxers generally love everyone and so a stranger is just a friend he hasn't met yet. When I neutered my boy he was just about 4-1/2 to 5 months. I'd...

Poopy problems I think Natural Balance (Dick Van Patten's Line of dog food) which our local Petco carries has a fish and potato line and I think they just added a vegetarian line, as well as there regular stuff, I use this when my regular food, Eagle Pack Holistic, isn't available to me. My...

Flea Preventatives - what do you use?

Fleas.... Unless my dogs kill a rabbit in the yard and eat it, I've never had a flea problem on any of my pets. Part of flea control comes from the environment the dog is in. Manicured lawns and flower beds don't tend to harbor squirrels and rabbits, major carriers of fleas. Dogs who go out...

    gray hair??

Gray hairs I would think that while diet and general health might play some part, genetics plays a part too. My Whippet started going gray around 4 to 5 years of age. My doberman bitch who passed at age 8 didn't have a gray hair on her and I saw plenty dobies who where younger with full gray...

    Broken Tail???

Broken tail If it is swollen and painful I would suggest a trip to the vet. At the very least a phone consult. They can suggest whether over the counter asprin could be used to treat the swelling and pain to make her more comfortable or whether the vet feels that an in person exam is needed...

Trying to get him in shape - is what I'm doing okay?

Dieting It sounds like you've got a handle on it. If you need treats during training you could figure out what the equivolent in kibble is and subtract that from his regular meal. You could also replace some treats or meal time kibble with green beans(the frozen kind) to reduce calories. Use...

    agressive breed?

Aggression, human, dog/animal First let me say this. I have owned a Doberman, three Greyhounds, a Whippet, a Boxer and an American Pit Bull Terrier over the course of the last twenty years. Let me state catagorically, aggression towards humans in the American Pit Bull Terrier is, under any...

    Boxer Puppies for Sale

reverse brindle Rare, well lets examine the AKC standard for the boxer. Fawn with or without white markings, not to exceed 1/3 of the ground color and not on the back or torso area. A black mask must also be present in some degree on both color types. The brindle dog may have a fawn...

Well I knew this would happen

It will not hurt her to miss a meal. Offer her the food two or three times a day and only leave it down for 10-15 minutes then pick it up and try later. Spend time with her, playing or going for a walk to stimulate her mind and she should come around. Is there another adult dog you know of...

    What's up with small dogs?

small dogs This is not so strange. Many dogs are not well socialized around other dogs, especially larger ones. Also, many terrier breeds are more aggressive towards other dogs, especially if they weren't well socialized and especially with dogs they do not know well. Don't take it...

Crate Training A couple of words on crate training. I don't know what your exact reasons are for fore-going crate training but let me just let tell you the benefits. It will help with house-breaking. It keeps the puppy from getting into things they shouldn't when you are not home. Bored...

Baby girl coming home soon couple ?'s..

New Baby 1. Get books from the library or book store on boxers or basic dog care. 2. Do some searching at this site or on web concerning boxer health concerns. They are prone to various cancers, tumors, heart ailments and skin conditions. (Over vaccination has been called into question...

    hook worms bummin' me out

shots I agree with the spacing out of vaccinations and of doing titer tests, and you might also want to concider doing individual shots instead of the 7 in 1 or the 5 in 1. Talk to the vet about this and you can also do a search on vaccinations here or on the web. Good luck

    Undescended testicule

to JSBoxer why not go with neuticals? Implants put in after neutering. Leaving the actual testicles seems kind of like leaving a bullet in the chamber if you are trying to reduce the risk of cancer. The dog can still get testicular cancer if they are still in the dog.
