Thanks for all of your thorough answers, they really helped!!! I applied all of these techniques and Theo has responded to them extremelly well. Tonight, we did the entire walk without using the leach. He constantly remained close by, playing in the snow and running around. At one point...
Thanks for such a nice answer. You're right, I tend to let myself be upset when he is disobedient, Theo sees that and it gives him one more reason to avoid me. Adding to that, Theo hates his leach and would do anything to not be at the end of it. I'll try to put your advices in practice...
We've had Theo for 3 weeks (he is 13 weeks old). He's been fantastic for the first two weeks, learning things real quick and surprising everyone. The past week, however, has been a bad one... as he got more confortable inside the house he became disobedient. My principale worry is that he...
Lol, sounds silly without further precisions, I know!
I am teaching him a maximum of tricks to do on command and one of the coolest, I think, is to bark. On top of that, barking on command can reveal itself to be very usefull to scare off burglars.
Interesting, I didn't hear about that one. I just looked over some websites retracing the history of the breed and many attribute the english name to the dog's instinct to use it's front paws when at play and fighting.
The mystery lives on though...
I heard something like that too!!! They used to be fighting dogs and it seemed as though they were throwing punches at each others. I believe that's the reason but I am unsure, anyone knows?

What are your techniques for teaching your dog how to bark? I have tried to teach him today by putting him in front of the mirror, it seemed to work pretty well...
I was told that chocolate is bad for boxers! Is this a myth or the reality? Does it also applies to other breeds?
Here in Switzerland, chocolate is everywhere and, if we're not vigilant, Theo would surely find a way to find some:)
I could describe my dog just as you describe yours: very nice, very few accidents, doesn't mind the crate but can't sleep in it. He is 10 weeks old and I've had him for 4 days. I've had to listen to his heartbreaking screams and cries for the first 3 nights but as I write to you... he has been...
Here in Switzerland, the country is momentarilly under shock following the killing of a little boy in Zurich by two pitbulls. As a result, a few states have taken steps to prevent the sale of these dogs. The affair has been followed very closely by the medias and, as a result, has had a...
We've had Théo for a week and we have him sleeping in his crate, in the morning (after a walk) he finishes his night on a pillow next to my bed. We've had a basset before him who slept in the bed and I couldn't stand the room he was taking, in the morning, I would practically wake up on the...
