    Fear Aggression - Getting Worse

The other question, is what about an anxiety wrap for Gus.....I have been reading about them. I see people have used them with positive results for seperation anxiety, etc., but not specifically for a fear aggressive dog. Does anyone have an opinion on whether that would be beneficial in my case?

    Fear Aggression - Getting Worse

Thanks for the responses....we are working on the training him to crate when people come to the door. We do not have it yet, but it is getting a little better. He is just so DETERMINED! You can actually tell that he thinks about whether he really wants the treat or not...no matter what it is...

    Fear Aggression - Getting Worse

Well thanks for all the information. When we saw the behavioralist they did give us some ideas of things to do with him. Mainly crating him when people come over and then letting him warm up to them before he gets let out of the crate. The problem with that is that if people ever come in...

    Fear Aggression - Getting Worse

Not sure what to do about my 8 month old boxer boy Gus. I have posted before that he has had trouble with meeting children. Well over the last couple months it has seemed to escalated to strangers in general (both Big and Small). Some of the episodes were not his fault, but it is very...

Advice Needed - Issue with Our Boxer Girl

Well my behavioralist said a lot of what was said on a lot of these posts! We talked a lot about dog behavior, and that what they are doing isn't bad behavior, it is a normal response for these dogs in the situation that they are in. My Gus has issues with anxiety and when I took him to the...

Advice Needed - Issue with Our Boxer Girl

I am so glad that I found this thread.....it is exactly what I am going throught with my 6 month old boy. We just saw a behavioralist last week! I think that it was very beneficial. If you have one in your area, I highly recommend it. Your story sounds like a mirror image of my boy! Hope...

    Puppy Growling w/Toddlers

In response to Jerrybobby. Yes he was socialized around some children before 16 weeks. We don't have a ton of little kids in our family, and my son is 8 y/o......his experience around children was primarily when we would walk him, take him to the park, or camping when they greet him.

    Puppy Growling w/Toddlers

I appreciate the additional feedback....and as for the play growl I don't think that its that. Gus does have a distinctive play growl and this is different. This is a lower growl. The last time that this happened I do remeber him backing away from the people that were petting, like he was a...

    Puppy Growling w/Toddlers

UPDATE: Gus is doing good with little kids 90% of the time! We camp a lot in the sumer and he comes with us, so when little kids approach and want to pet him, I have them put their hand out first and pet him gently after he smells them, and is wagging his tail. The other day I had the a...

    This is BAD

I totally agree with what Gilbert said! We take our puppy out the back door when he has to do his business, and he goes out the front door when its time to play in the yard! Our pup caught on to this REALLY fast!

    Puppy Growling w/Toddlers

I have a quick question from some of the more experienced boxer owners. I have a 4 month old Male Boxer Puppy....who is 4 months old. We have been socializing him since he came to us at 8 weeks. He comes to work with me everyday, and is starting basic obedience school. He loves adults, and...

    Rowdy Pup

My puppy came home at 7weeks and was the exact same way. He is now 10 weeks and doing a lot better. We have been putting toys in his mouth, and trying to teach him what "NO" means! Which I think he is finally starting to understand.

    Bunny Hopping

Thanks! He saw the vet today for his shots....they did a physical exam on his hips and said that they didn't feel loose, or that he had any clicking! They did say that he stands a little cow hocked. They are gonna keep a close eye on him, and x-ray his at 1 year if there are any changes!

    Bunny Hopping

I have a quick question for other experienced boxer owners. I have a 10 week old male pup (Gus) that was playing with one of his littermates the other day! They played hard, and they were around some tile that caused my little guy to do the splits a couple of times. When he got home he...
