Oh, "THE MISSING LINK." I get it now. That's actually a product. I thought it was some mysterious thing that I haven't figured out yet. Well, I guess it was. But, I understand now. I did a search on Google and saw that it's actually a powder supplement. I think I'm really getting the hang...
You're a real help...
Thank you very much for all your input. I now realize that even though this looks bad, it certainly is not the worst ailment Charlie could have. He is still scratching unfortunately, but we'll deal with that -- I suppose. I read something about fatty acid supplements...
Lots of Info
Wow, you weren't kidding. There are a lot of threads about this problem -- demodex. Based on what I read, Charlie certainly has generalized mange. His entire face is losing hair along with his head and multiple spots on his sides and legs. From what you say, he can recover all...
Misdiagnosis
The initial diagnosis was made by a young vet. She recognized a pattern of bald spots on Charlie's sides. She classified them as signs of sarcoptic because she considered them to be on the dog's underside. She didn't want to do a skin scraping because it was uncomfortable for...
We have an answer!
After a month of unsuccessful treatment for s-mange, the vet did a skin scrapping and determined the problem to be d-mange. So, the contagious part is off my mind. Now, we just have to lick the d-mange mites so we can get on with puppyhood.
I found one of Charlie's...
Hello New Jersey!
I just joined BW and am very happy to have found this thread. Charlie and I live in Gloucester County. There aren't any dog parks that I have found in Gloucester County yet. But, there is a park in Camden County at the Cooper River Park and I hear there is a park in Vorhees...
Thanks for the info
Thanks for the input. I do know it's contagious, so I have been keeping him away from other dogs. I wasn't aware of the new solution "Revolution." I'm going to check that out. Is it a replacement for the normal flea and tick preventative (e.g. advantix)? The article...
I'm concerned... We took Charlie (6 month old fawn) to the vet last week, and she said he had sarcoptic mange. I'm not very sure what this really means. I know it's a mite (or many, many mites). But what can I do to prevent this? It's not like a cold that simple runs it's course and goes...
We're down here, too.
Charlie and I are in Gloucester County, too. We just joined BW last week. I'm still trying to learn the ropes. Another member, K J's Dad is semi-local, too. I think a little meet and greet would be fun -- once this snow melts.
What's next...?
I'm not sure what happens next. I read you're reply and your brindle puppy is five days younger than Charlie. To boot, we just moved away from the Trenton area. There's a great dog park in Hamilton, NJ. I saw you're post to another Jersey pup -- erin'sdakota. Is there...
Hi,
My name is Ed. Charlie, my wife Colleen and I live in southern NJ. We're newly weds and just got our first dog a few months ago. Charlie and I are excited about this website. Charlie's our 6 month old flash fawn boxer who loves to keep my wife and I on our feet. I've read many of the...
