Streptozocin (IV Chemo) -- Yes or No?

Thank you. I guess I just can't believe that I can't fix him. He looks so happy and healthy right now, and I can't imagine a time when he won't.

Streptozocin (IV Chemo) -- Yes or No?

Thank you for that insight. The oral chemo was a possible second step, after a few months of the IV doses, because the IV one specifically targets the pancreas/liver/lymph nodes and we have to shrink those tumors down first. The specialist said the oral chemo was much easier on the dog's...

Streptozocin (IV Chemo) -- Yes or No?

I quizzed them like crazy and the answers are not good...this has a 50% or more chance of causing him to have diabetes, his kidneys will be crushed, and he will have GI problems, in addition to other things consistent with human Cancer/Chemo...yuck

Streptozocin (IV Chemo) -- Yes or No?

Thanks for your support. Yes, we're talking to the top Oncologists in San Diego and they are just so emotionally distant from the pain we're going through and how concerned we are about Papi's well-being. It's been a shock to have specialist after specialist behave so matter-of-factly about...

Streptozocin (IV Chemo) -- Yes or No?

My 9-year-old boy, Papi, was suddenly having some sort of seizures and after a lot of tests (Ultrasound, CT, Blood Tests, Thyroid Tests, Glucose Tests, etc.), they determined that he has Insulinoma and that the Cancer has also spread to his lymph nodes and Liver. They put him on 20mg of...

    Convulsions

Papi Update: The overnight Holter monitor showed no "events," but it did show multiple heart arrhythmias, and so the cardiologist suggested skipping the MRI and getting a cardiac/abdominal ultrasound instead, which on the positive showed good heart muscle contractions, but on the negative showed...

    Convulsions

Thank you everyone! They did bloodwork, but I will ask about getting a full panel to check his thyroid. I will post an update later today and share anything I know so that others can learn from these symptoms.

    Convulsions

At around noon today, Papi (9 years old) dropped to the ground like he had his legs swept out from under him and started to convulse. He was alert, aware, and even sort of surprised by this -- his eyes were clear, he wasn't drooling, and he was wagging his tail when I went to him. He got up and...

    SmallBatch Raw Patties

I just started transitioning our boys to SmallBatch patties (duck) and was curious if anyone else has tried this brand and/or patty style of feeding raw? Anything better than this that I should consider? smallbatch batches They (ages 7.5 and 3.5) really like it a lot so far and I'm hoping...

    Pancreatitis Again...Food & Ideas?

The doc said to start Papi on SAM-e a while back, but since I was testing other things, I didn't do it. Since he started the pills, he's been doing well. First thing they've gotten right!

    Pancreatitis Again...Food & Ideas?

Ran out of the Seacure powder and figured I'd see how Papi did only on the SAM-e pills and so far, so good. I probably should have given him those when the doc first mentioned it...
