I was reading the Harry Potter thread, and it made me think that one of my favorite series is definitely over... I'm a bookworm, and I love to get suggestions for new things to read. I'm curious about what book/series you really loved!

Besides the HP books, I love Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, The Da Vinci Code, Caleb Carr's Alienist/Angel of Darkness, anything by Agatha Christie, The Thorn Birds. I adore Calvin and Hobbes as well!

So, what's your favorite book(s)? What do you recommend? :)

My recent favourites are A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, The Secret History by Donna Tart, The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields, all books by George McKay Brown, The Harry Potter series, His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman and my old favourites are The Lord of the Rings series and Little Women by Louisa M Alcott.

I love reading :)

I loved ' The Bad Mothers Handbook' by Kate Long and loved 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold. I also loved 'The Thorn birds' although read it years ago now. Loved the Bridgette Jones books although the films did them no justice.

I too shall miss the HP series, it is a favorite of mine. I'd say my absolute fave and a true classic, is "To Kill a Mockingbird". A definite recommend to anyone that has never read it. Otherwise I like to read a variety, but trashy novels can't be beat.

My favorite was the Lemony Snickets series. I went through each book in the series (13 books) in a day ;) In my opinion they were the best books ever :)

My fave book of all time is called "A Taste of Blackberries". It is a young adult book and I first read it when I was in sixth grade (many years ago now). It has stuck with me all these years. Besides Nicholas Sparks and Dan Brown, I prefer to read non-fiction books. Ancient cults and religions, Early Christianity, Mysticism, basically topics on Judeo-Christian things spark my interest. I know, I am a big nerd.
