Okay I am in Eastern Ontario, its about 9pm and its cold cold cold outside. Hubby says you should go outside and shock the spa, I say sure, I put on my boots and turn on the outside light to the back deck and open the door, whoa!!! what a smell! SKUNK I open the door and say to him inside, I don't beleive this but it sure smells like skunk outside, he comes out on the deck and sure enough there goes the skunk in the neighbours yard???

Now don't skunks hibernate for the winter?
What would they eat now??????

I thought they did! Haven't seen or smelled any around here since late fall thank goodness ;)

garbage I presume.

Colleen they must have discovered your spa and decided they could handle the cold winter days and nights, being as this nice couple in Eastern Ontario was supplying a warm bath for them.

Wow Colleen skunks are a regular smell here in Oakville during the warmer months. Maybe, they are nesting under your spa, and the warmth from it has them all confused  Probably shocked the crappers out of them when they surfaced to the Great White North

My condolences on your unwelcome intruder. We have one living under our house and he's been there for some time. When the furnace comes on, there is the vague aroma of "Le Skunke" wafting through the air. We've tried everything to lure it out and trap it, but to no avail. I'm resigned to it being there until it dies and rots away. And won't THAT smell be nice!!smashicon smashicon

We have had uninvited skunks a couple of times. I have been lucky and none of my dogs has gotten close. I am sure they would think it is a black and white cat. :D

I got rid of both of them, by pouring some amonia in their dens. You want to poor it while they are away. Not sure what would happen by the furnace, but might be worth a try.

Oh! Thank you, Draymia. Something I haven't tried yet - I've been pouring full-strength PineSol underneath the furnace to annoy it and make it leave (and to try and mask the odor). And my hubby's been spreading powered lime all around the areas we think he's going in and coming out of. I'll try the ammonia. I just pour it right under into the ground underneath the house, not contacting the furnace itself or anything like that.

Spa and a Pool ?

Okay Colleen I have been thinking about this. Even with the newly found skunk, I am thinking your place sounds like the Retreat I need. I promise I won't get in your way, and you don't have to feed me, been known to go days without food LOL.
