I have read through the last few threads on ears, taping and show crops and have garnered some good info. I am not new to boxers, or crops per se. I am however new to taping a show crop. My 17 week bitch Pebbles recieved her show crop at 8 weeks from a vet who breed and shows boxers. I think her crop is nice. Since she came home at 9 weeks, I have been using foam supports that I glue in with skin bond and then three small pieces of tape. This is what the breeder instructed. He told me that I would need to post and tape until 6 months of age. I am worried though that her ears won't ever stand up well. They are still really soft and floppy when I change the posts. I suppose I really am looking for a reassurance that they will stay up in the long run.

Can I find detailed directions for the breathe right method. I read about this tx in a previous post, but I would like to read a bit more about it if there is additional info out there.

    Thanks
    Sam

    Hang in there,

While the pups are teething, many will show no sign of even thinking of standing. I have a five month old pup and his have only started standing well for the last month. They actually stood for about 36 hours this last time. So we are almost there.

The breathe right strips are good for ears that are up at the bases and the top half is still flopping.

    Just keep on taping. ;)

I bought my pup from a breeder who was going to show him, so he ears are what I believe to be a show crop. He's now almost 7 months old, and one ear is standing, and the other ear is standing EXCEPT the tip, which droops downward (about the top inch). I am currently attempting the breathe right strip and tape method - just for that portion of the one ear. I, too, need better instructions for this method. We'll just have to keep investigating! Good Luck.

I am in the same boat as all of you. have done lots of pet crops my goodness what a breeze...... This is my first show crop I am dealing with and she is 8 months old her 1 ear stands great beautiful and her other one has like a kink in it. It doesnt flop but you know what I mean. I too tried the breath right strips after hearing about them on here and cant figure it out. I cant get them to stick... any advice would be wonderful.

You need a glue for the breathe right- they will not stay on their own. I ordered skin bond from a surgical supply house and I know others have bought tear mender which is a sewing glue.

Put the glue on the sticky side and stick. With glue I got about 5 days from the strips.

Nin was in strips or tape until she was about 8-9 months old.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I will be patient and not get too worked up over the ears. We are not planning on showing her, so in the really big picture if they don't go up all the way it is ok. I just want them to look pretty and I want the effort to be worth it. I don't mind the work on my part, but I do feel for Pebbles. When we put new skin bond on, she does not like it one bit.
I really had planned on my next boxer having natural ears, but I wanted this girl and she came with a crop :).

I will keep you guys posted on progress.
    Thanks again
    Sam

    Ear Cropping

She's still young. Butch has a long crop (show) also and it took until 5 1/2 months before we were complete. If you look at my posts around 17 weeks I was stressing too. Just keep taping. If she looses her teeth and her new ones are coming through you can start the strips as long as they are standing. By this, I mean, everything but the tips are up and hardened.
Make sure you use the skin bond with the strips.
    Good Luck!

Her ears look good. They look like they're coming along just fine.

Did she lose her teeth yet?
    BTW, she's beautiful!
