working two jobs

DH and I have made the decision to start getting our house ready for the market. We're getting really tired of HOAs and the dues are only going up ($38.50/quarter for goodness knows what and $245.00 for the pool we only visit one time a year). I have learned the importance of putting down a big as possible down payment. Therefore, I have no other option than to get another job (just typing that makes my stomach churn). Is there anyone who works two jobs? The job I have is full time and it's taxing on the brain as I deal with kids. I have no idea what kind of job to look for and not even sure if it's a good idea. I just keep imagining being tired all the time but don't know if I'm being a drama queen.

I've done it and liked it

I have worked two jobs most of my life just now that I have gotten my puppy, married and a new house all in the last six months I havd decided to take some time for those things.
I personally loved working two jobs. It kept me busy and being busy is important to me.
I can relate to you about the big down payment though. My husband and I both worked two jobs for one full year saving every penny we could and it really has paid off for us. We have a beautiful home with a mortgage we can manage and bill that do not leave us strapped.
Ultimately it is your decision but I can recommed getting a second job that you enjoy so it doesn't seem like work. I work in an office all day long counting money and paying bill for the City I live in and so I decided I needed a job that involved interaction. I am educated in Social Work so I got a part time job as a Social Worker at the local nursing home doing councelling and just spending time with the residents I ended up being a physio assistant and just loved it.
Had to leave the job to concentrate on my new family but in the long run it is worth it.
Would it be a permanant decision to have a second job? If was permanant it may be a different story but if it is only to save a down payment than their is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I work two jobs and have three kids and two dogs. Both of my jobs are full time, however, and this is fairly recent, but my husband has developed some health issues and it became necessary. I can tell you from persoal experience, if you DO get another job, get a part time one. If I'm lucky I sleep about 5 hours a night, often not though, and I have NO time for anything fun at all. I usually have to have my husband get the groceries. I work from home for both jobs though, so I guess maybe that helps but I'm very tired and, for me, it's very hard. I end up working until 2 am and am up at 6 am and then ahve to do everything else in between. I don't recommend it, it will make you unwell.

It would not be a permanent second job and it wouldn't be full time. I don't think I could handle it. It is solely for the purpose of putting a down payment on our next house. I just don't know who would hire me for a couple of hours during the evening and then weekends.

Wow Vela! I don't know how you do it. I would be like a walking zombie if I only got 5 hours of sleep, max. I know your situation may be temporary ( I hope everything works out for the best with your DH) but I have no idea how single parents do it. Just constantly going all the time. When I think about single parents, I realize I just need to get off my lazy butt and do what I have to do. Like Nike: Just do it!
