Woo hoo! Pet Friendly Plates

I heard on the radio this morning that IL legislature approved a bill for Pet Friendly Plates! I can harldy wait until they are available. I know TX has them, any one actually have them on their car?

Not to sound stupid, but what are "pet friendly" plates?

We have every kind of plate under the sun here...Manatees, Panthers, Support Education...etc..but I would love to have a BOXER plate! How cool would that be?!

They are trying to get that started here, too. I think they are $30 over the amount of your regular car tag. I don't even know if it's in our legislature yet. Our tags are very high in my county - I have a 2000 model and my tags last year were almost $700..:eek: I don't know what I was thinking in getting a new car. Anyway, congratulations on the new tags. Is the money going to be donated to the local shelter? That's what they're floating here.

I guess we should feel lucky. :D Our tags are $30 (I think) for 2 years. And everyone pays the same. Doesn't matter what year your car is, which seems more reasonable to me.

So are you talking about the actual plate having a pet on it?

The proposed bill was for an additional 40 on top of the seventy something it is now (15 goes back to the gov, hogs) for the first year and in the twenty-something additional for the remainder(they dont get as much for subsequent years). The proceeds do go to local shelters. Woo hoo. The humane society web sites have been promoting it for a while. We do not have that many different plates here, I believe there were only two and now an organ donor plate was recently added. (I signed my license and alerted my family, I dont think I need a plate too!)

"I feel your pain." Ha! Used to live in MS...for 13 years...moved there from TX...imagine our suprise when we found out the $$$ for tags...Whoa!!! And we didn't have a NEW car...

An "organ donor plate"??? That could be dangerous... what if the person driving behind you just happens to need an organ? It could get ugly :D
I'm only kidding I am an organ donor, I just don't think I would want to advertise it to everybody on the open road :eek:

Just started a new plate with a picture of a moose. It costs $30.00 more a year and goes toward wildlife. We don't have a variety though, just a moose. Not sure why a moose but it is a moose.
