Lola's mum

Boxer Insane
Both Lola & Zeb took their time going to the loo out on walks but Casper takes the biscuit. He still hasn't had a pee or poo out of the garden.
While this isn't a problem as such I do worry that he's very uncomfortable when we're out on really long walks.
We had him out for almost 4 hours a few months ago and he still did nothing. He gets home and runs straight in the gate and the relief on his face is comical.
He goes out walking with ohter dogs and see's them doing it so why won't he follow suit? Lola pees for Britain everytime we're out, he just sniffs where she's been and I get all excited that he might actually pee over hers but no :(

Completely Boxer Crazy
Your post made me laugh..... When we travel to see Our DD in Missouri we have to stop at a certain gas station or Dakota will not go pee the entire trip. The trip is usually only 3 hrs but, can take longer depending on construction. The Dog cracks me up. If we go on a walk he will wait till we get home to go... I cannot explain it.. Maybe creatures of habit.....

what funny creatures...

I'm so glad it isn't just Diesel! When we first got him, he was 9 months old. We spent HOURS outside with him, waiting for him to pee so we could reward him and help him understand where he's supposed to make his deposits... but no go. Finally, we went inside. A few minutes later I looked out a window in the back of the house and saw him peeing while looking around suspiciously.
It was probably a year before I ever saw him poop, and up until a year ago, he would not poop outside of his yard. Now he only goes where he feels comfortable. But he's very modest and would not pee or poop anywhere that was not his backyard for a very long time. In fact, if you call his name while he's going, he stops and finds somewhere to go where you can't see him.. maybe your dog's hesitation to go in public is similar.
What's weird is that now when we go to the dog park, he pees everywhere. I don't know if it's related to how he would do anything "indecent" before, but it's like all of the sudden he's ok with people seeing him do his business, and now he'll do it anywhere.
Maybe your dog's uncomfortable with going to the bathroom away from his official "toilet." In that case, I would just make sure I am not away from home for too long!
