So I'm at Petsmart tonight signing Cisco up for some classes. (yeah fun!)
And as I am leaving I look at their ads of pets needing homes. There is one that catches my eye: boxer/wolf mix, 10 puppies, m/f , 5 weeks old and it says to see one of the workers there.
What in the world? Did someone leave their boxer out and it bred with a wolf? Is there some kind of a wolf dog? I was shocked, never heard of the this before!

thats definately a strange mix.. must have been a mistake. trying to find homes already at 5wks.. UGH.. we (parents) have a husky-chow-wolf hybrid that we rescued. We think that he was separated from his litter very early, because he doesn't know how to interact w/ dogs.. (nor did his previous 2 owners socialize him at all). poor pups.. :( i hope they find good homes who are willing to spend the necessary time w/ them. i really believe hybrids do not act like normal dogs (because they arent), and need a certain type of home... or else they end up in shelters, just like our Jack.

I have never heard of such a mix and can't begin to imagine what the pups would look like...I hope those pups find some good homes and the parents are spayed/neutered.

I would bet that one parent is only part wolf, if any at all. For all we know they could be part husky/boxer. Still a wierd combo. Some people think it's cool to say part wolf. Growing up we had a wolf/husky hybrid. He was a great companion. Kept us little ones out of trouble. :) But I would never have another one. Some say lower percentage wolf hybrids are ok as pets, but I think it just hurts wolves in general when people do that. I agree with mama_zookeeper, I hope they find good homes and get fixed also.

Off the subject But...

My hubby and I and our neighbors (who have a chiuaha) looked up a Boxer/ Chiuaha mix just for the fun of it we would never think of breeding our dog with ANY other! But those were some weird looking dog's!

I don't have the link anymore but try to google it to see what you find if you are interested in seeing a wierd dog!

When I was a kid my dad got me a chow-wolf mix. He was a very mean dog though!

I can't imagine that a boxer and a wild wolf would breed... the only interactions I have ever seen between wolves and dogs have been less than romantic.

I remember as a child, that everyone that had a dog that remotely looked like a Husky/GSD would be passed off as "Part Wolf". The Boxer/Wolf puppies are likely the unfortunate breeding of a boxer and a mixed breed ( that someone says is part wolf ).

...but you never know, anything is possible!

Thanks for all the replies. We start our training classes on Wed. I am going to ask around to some of the workers there and see who knows anything about them.
