I bought Bandit one of those wiggley giggley balls on Sunday, and within 5 minutes he had a hole chewed in it.

I don't even think that it was 5 minutes. I gave it to him, walked outside to get the bag of dog food and i came in and he was eating the rubber.

Needless to say he doesn't have it anymore and i paid $14.99 for the damn thing.

Do any of you have a toy that your boxer can't destroy? Bandit is now almost 10 monthes old and i swear that he does this stuff on purpose, what toys can i give him that he won't shread? He has also destoyed his rop bones, frisbees, anything plastic, his brand new wiggly ball, tennis balls, and i am kinda afraid to try the kongs, because i know that he would shread them. I am at my wits end

with him and toys. (thank god he doesn't touch clothes, shoes, ect)

Melanie, I know just how you feel! Ttakas is our 'demolition expert' - his mission in life has always been to destroy anything he can. Bronte loves to play with the toys, but he makes it his mission to destroy things. They are littermates and turned 3 years old in May, so I'm not expecting any change from him. He did the same thing to the giggle ball as your Bandit - I got them a basketball as was suggested by someone on this board and he had it punctured within minutes of me bringing it home. We've been through chewed shoes alot too, tho not as much any more. It was usually my shoes that were chosen - but he really did it when he chewed my husband slippers which he had brought back from England just a couple of days before! I haven't been much help I know, but as they say - Misery loves company - at least there's someone else out there just a frustrated with their 'demolition dog'!!!

Melanie - don't get angry at Bandit. Dogs as well as human kids LOVE to destry toys. Maybe they do a kind of a researsch of theirs?

Tina distroys all her toys literally in 5 minutes, especially balls. Except one which she got a couple weeks ago. She neither detroys it, nor give it to someone, she even sleeps with it. It is the first time, and I don't know why she doesn't tear the ball to pieces. Perhaps, it's love?

Completely Boxer Crazy
Hello! The only toy that Indy has not destroyed yet is his Nylabone. He's chewed it and chewed it for about a year, but so far the end is the only thing that looks gnawed on. He won't even play with his Giggly Wiggly. One thing he does love is this little (about 3 inch across) porcupine, made of heavy rubber. He's had it since he was a puppy and he still plays with it. He will play with the Kong, but not too much. He cannot play with stuffed toys! They are shredded within minutes...Hope this helps.

I have the answer to your prayers! GET A LAZER POINTER! Bandit can not chew it up. Its just a red point light! Its like what they use in guns to aim with. When I bring this out my Gracie becomes a wild camanchie! She will play for hours!.....(or well as long as I point it on the ground) You can get them any where! hope this help let us know how it works!!!!!

Right now my boy's favorites are an empty gallon milk jug and a five gallon black plastic pot (from a nursery plant.) They make a LOT of noise skittering across the patio, they're light and can be tossed up in the air or you can run like a crazy guy around the back yard!
If they think chewing is the most fun, then you need to provide them with things to destroy. Blocks of styrofoam are a favorite (very messy) and cardboard boxes.

My sister-in-law's dog does the same thing. You can't even put anything near her, she'll chew it. She's pooped out pieces of her leash, towels, sponges, MONEY. You name it, this dog will eat it.

My boxers have always been very fond of their toys, maybe they will fall apart after long use, but they pretty much play with them and love 'em.

What I've seen advertised in RC Steele catalog is something called the "indestructable ball" that was created for dogs that like to destroy their stuff.

You may want to check that out, they come in all different sizes and there may be a guarantee that comes along with it. Might be worthwhile.

Good luck.

Melanie-
Don't be afraid of the Kong. It will be your friend. Get a black kong (they're tough!) and let Bandit go on that. If you can't get him interested put peanut butter or cheese inside of it. Also nylabones are good for lots of chewing and not a lot of destruction.
