Wipe dog after peeing?

Does anyone else wipe their dog after they come in from peeing? Our boxers, who are both 4 months old, always have a drip left when they come in. It's actually creamy, not a typical clear urine. They have had this problem since we got them at 8 weeks. Since my husband doesn't like to wipe, we are left with tiny pee spots all over everything they sit on. I've never seen anyone talk about this problem before and wondered if it was common and everyone just lived with it!

I've noticed the same thing on Cassius from time to time... Never wiped it, but have thought about it! I'm interested to know everyone else's thoughts on the subject! :)

If it's creamy they might have a urinary tract infection. I had this problem with Delilah and the vet put her on antibiotics and the creamy drip went away.

My female boxer had this problem as well from the time we brought her home. She had to urinate constantly and when she would come back in, she would have a "creamy" drip left on her. We took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with a sever bladder/urinary tract infection. After treating with antibiotics, it went away and then came back a few weeks later. She was then diagnosed with puppy vaginitis. Now we have to wait for her to go through her first heat before we can get her fixed to ensure it goes away permanently. I would go ahead and take your boxer to the vet to make sure there isn't an infection.

Wilson has the creamy drip too. Would a neuter fix a boy's recurant infections? If it was up to me, he would have been fixed a year ago. His dad doesn't want to do it. My husband has joked that he may come home one day to his little boy without his 'parts'.

My puppy has some long thin hairs that grow past his wiener. When he’s sleeping on the couch I do a sneak attach with the scissors and trim them so that stuff doesn’t get stuck there!

Haha that cracked me up.

But in regards to the original post, I asked my vet about my pup's "stuff" too. It kinda looks like pus and happens after he pees. He said it was smegma or something, I don't know what that is but it sounds gross. He said I could trim the hair and it would take care of it. And neutering would help too. He's too young to neuter yet and I'm a little afraid to trim the hair cause I don't want to accidentally hurt him, so I just wipe it. So, it could be nothing but def worth looking into since a couple people said their pups had the same thing and it was a urinary tract infection.

This thread is to funny - you can sure tell this board is inhabited by more women than men! I had thought about a female dog, but decided as a male I didn't want to deal the anatomy.

We used to "dab", not a wipe really. The creamy colored does sound like vaginitis. Cami had that as a pup. Waiting until after a heat cycle and then spaying to eliminate this problem????? Better to be spayed before the first heat cycle. Puppy vaginitis can lead to UTI's if left untreated.
