Brandy is a year old now and she is great with people as long as they are great with her. What I mean by that is when you meet her on the street etc.. she loves all people... BUT, when we have people come over-mostly my kids friends & my niece- she chases them & barks at them constantly. To the point where I have to put her out on the deck to calm down. My niece & my sons friend came over last week when we get company the dogs always get a biscuit. When they walk in the door & she is all wiggles, gets her treat & then she will "stalk" the kids the whole time they are here. Anytime they would go by Brandy she barks at them & jumps at them. She will stop if they pet her then start it up all over again. She doesn't do this to every kid either it is just the kids that aren't used to dogs or are afraid of her. Is this because she can tell they are afraid of her? It is driving me crazy!

Hi Jaimie, it sounds as if Brandy might be getting over excited and over stimulated. Is she crate trained? For her benefit (and for the benefit of you visitors) it may be best if she is in her crate during those hectic moments when you can not provide full supervision of her interaction with the children / adult visitors. A crate may be better than the deck - at least in her crate she will still be with everyone. Many children who are not experienced with dogs do all the 'wrong' things, body language wise (stare at them, act jumping, run, scream etc), around dogs, and this may be stressing Brandy.
