What would you do?

Ok, here's the situation. I received a bag of food from Pet food direct today and the bag was split open and maybe 1/3 of it spilled out into the box. Would you still use the food? I'm not considering using what spilled out, just what remains in the bag. I live maybe 10 minutes from PFD, and it was shipped yesterday so the bag couldn't have been open long. I called them as soon as I opened the box and they are sending another bag (no charge), and I also have enough left from the last bag so it's not like I'll run out of food. It's just that it's so much to throw away.

Thats a hard call! Was the outside of the box damaged and that is how it got split open? It would seem odd if the box it was shipped in was not damaged at all and yet the bag was open. It would lead me to believe it was open when they put the bag of food in the box. If that is the case... I dont think I would use it.

I think something got dropped on it while it was in UPS possession, the top of the box where the tape is was crushed and the tape was separated from the box. I'm just going to use what was still in the bag and throw out what came out.

You could also donate the bag to a local rescue or shelter. When I worked for a shelter, a lot of our dog food came from suppliers that had broken bags, so maybe a shelter would take if off your hands? It's better than letting it go to waste.
