Cooper cracks me up. We are talking about a very happy and spoiled Boxer pup with millions of toys (OK, maybe not millions, but at least 30 I would guess, which is a lot).....
I was just wrapping up gifts to ship to my sister and her family in Denver, which includes two adorable Boston Terriers, Briley and Casper. Well, let me tell you about the indignation I was met with while Cooper watched me take those dog toys (that he of course automatically assumed were for him) out of the shopping bag and *GASP!* wrap them up in paper without letting him play with them!! He was about to explode!!! (Of course the new toy that I gave him that is JUST like the ones I got for the Bostons was left in the other room while he huffed and puffed and whimpered at me to let him have a shot at these nifty toys I was wrapping in pretty green paper).
All you Boxer lovers know that they can give you the worst guilt trips ever and they stalk around and huff just like a, well, woman..... LOL
He was like "How DARE you get some toys and wrap them up and put them in a big box like that???"
I promised him that Santa will be putting lots more goodies in his stocking and under the tree on Christmas and told him he needs to be a good boy. So now he is back to playing with the toy that is identical to the ones his "cousins" got. I think he forgives me now... :)

Have you found that Cooper seems to know that you have a toy in the bag before you even get it out? I am amazed when we come home from Petco and Bella already knows that there is a toy in there for her! Must be the smell?

Chief can certainly sniff his stuff out of the shopping bags! ;) In fact, sometimes he thinks the cat treats are his... then he's mortified when they're not!

LOL, mine do this to every bag I bring home. It is so funny, they make the rounds each taking their turn sticking their heads in each bag. Occasionally Brady gets super excited and pulls something out that isn't his and decides to try to play with it anyhow. I think they get this because I rarely go to the store without buying them something.

I took Sophie, our Labwhippit(waiting at the bridge) to Petsmart once, and she thought every toy in the STORE was hers. She picked up a toy, which of course we then had to buy, and refused to let go of it until we went to pay for it. She then put it on the counter to have it rung up! Dogs do the darndest things.

Punchie gets so upset with me because I won't let her play with/destroy the cats' toys. Silly pup has ten times more toys than the kitties, but she still pouts when I take their toys away from her.

It's ironic this thread came up. Just tonight I came home from Walmart and I swear 5 seconds after I got all the bags in Aasha went directlly to the bag with the toy in it! He looked at the bag and then at me then the bag then at me like you gonna take it out and give it to me already! Yupe I agree they must be able to sniff them out. :)

Agreed. Atlas does the exact same thing. He'll ignore the bags with the jacket, poop bags, whatever other useful things we got for him and go directly for toys and treats. Must be a doggie gift. ;)
