well here's a dumb question.

how long can i keep the wet kibble down before it goes bad? is it good for an hour or 2?
harley has his days where he just isn't interested in food. he fools me alot...i think he's ready to eat...i moisten the food and he isn't interested after all. i throw out food because i don't know if it will make him sick if he eats it when it's been down for hours.
i know many of you only feed at certain times of the day and don't leave food down.this isn't really an option for me.

Wow!
This is such a concept for me. My dogs NEVER leave food in their bowls. It's usually gone within about 2 minutes!!

I think it's because we've always had 2 dogs. They probably think if they don't eat it NOW, the other dog will.

It should be fine for a few hours but...Have you tried changing brands? Maybe he does't care for it?? Or decrease portion Try to get him to clean it up then pick up bowl, I know it seems mean but next time you feed he will be hungry... Tooma's favorite trick is eating LOL

I get worried if the food is not gone in under 3 minutes. I know they aren't feeling well if they aren't drooling all over the floor as I prepare the food.

I would advise you take the food up after 15 minutes. If the dog has not eaten it before than take it up. The dog will learn to eat in the alotted time frame. So many other things like dominance issues, pack leader role etc rides on food. Feeding is one of the easiest and most important ways to establish roles in the household.

I would pick it up after 15 minutes, cover it and put in the fridge and save it for the next meal time. If you must leave the food down, I would give it to him dry. Just make sure that there is lots of water available.

Have you tried putting yogurt on Harley's food. Most dogs really like it and it might entice him to eat. It also helps in the gas department.
