Vomiting Frothy Bile

SOMETIMES when Belle has her last supper around 10 pm she'll vomit frothy bile between 4 and 5 in the morning.

We've been treating her with pepcid and reglan but the vet advise us to taper off on the pepcid by only giving her 1/2 tablet before bed. Of course, she on the first night of the taper she woke up at 7 am and has heaved and vomited bile about 10 times in and hour (after her breakfast)..

If it doesn't stop we'll take her to the vet later this AM. Since this started, I've been dosing with liquid reglan and given her a pepcid, but she quickly puked this up with the bile.

Should I try to get her to eat something again... like chicken? Will these stop the bile? Right now she's pacing looking for a new place to vomit.

I think it would be best to get her to the vet and not feed her anymore this morning until the vet examines her. If she's been throwing up so much, obviously there's something wrong and more food could maker her more uncomfortable and even sicker. Please let us know how things go. Good luck!

Hope Belle is feeling better, has she been seen by the vet yet?

I'm interested in your answer as Waldo had a small chuck up this morning too,a small puddle of frothy bile, there were a few little bits of bone in it,from yesterday's bone.
He seems to be ok now though after having a little bit of brekky.

How is Belle felling today? Better I hope, but I am curious if you found out what caused it as the same thing happened to Chance the other day but it was only a few times and didn't happen again and he has been fine since. We hope all is well and Miss Belle is on the mend soon ;)

Doing Better

Belle stopped vomiting around 7 am. She's not vomited since.

Since this morning I've dose with pepsid and another round of reglan with 2 benadryl.

She's got her appetite back as she has eaten several meals consisting of 3 boiled chicken tenderloins with a little Timber Wolf kibble mixed up.

I'll dose her with a little more reglan and pepdic before bed. I think she'll be ok.

I think something similar (at least it sounds like it) has occured with my boys. First when my two year old was a puppy and now with our youngest pup. We never found anything wrong with our older one and our vet suggested that given that we feed more frequently during the day when they are puppies that going from the evening meal to morning is too long of a time without food (especially if your feeding dinner around 7 as we do). We found that a snack before bedtime makes a big difference. This problem went away as our boy got older - at least for our case. Maybe this will help?

oops...I missed that you feed at 10. Can't be that then. I'm wondering if it could be an allergy? It's weird that the hacking is happening after eating and breakfast doesn't come back up. Usually mine hack bile before but after eating they are better. I'm sorry Belle is having trouble - hope things have settled down for her.

Butler does this, too, sometimes.

He has really bad allergies and is on hydroxyzine at least once per day. Twice per day if his allergies seem worse. I always know when I need to up his meds because he starts to vomit the frothy bile; it's almost like a sinus drainage. I have given him metachlopramide to calm his tummy. Pepcid is also good, and I take it daily, so I always have it on hand.

Hope you figure out what the problem is.
