I think I'm finally ready to order some sort of "harness" for Ali to help with her pulling. I've been to the Gentle Leader website and questioned them about using it on a Boxer (because of their short nose). It sounds good to me. I'd just like to hear from any of you that use or have used it and what you think.

Thanks!

Hi, Candy! We use a Halti collar on Harley which is, I think, pretty much like the Gentle Leader. It fits around the snout and then around the neck, putting the "pulling power" of the dog on his nose rather than on his neck and shoulders. The Halti collar works great and turns my Tazmanian Devil on a leash  into a pussycat. :D With the Halti, Harley just walks along and responds immediately to a gentle tug when he stops to sniff or mark his territory. On a leash he's a crazed fool, dragging me down the street with my shoulder halfway out of the socket. I find Harley heels much better and is more attentive to my directions when he is wearing the Halti. Of course, he hates it with a passion and, as soon as he sees us getting it from the shelf, he starts running around the room like a whirlwind, barking loudly. It's tricky to get it on his snout but, once "installed", he instantly settles and follows my directions. I think these collars are the best but, good luck with whatever one you choose! :)

Candy, look to see that the one you get doesn't have a cheek strap like the horse halters. That type is usually too long for the Boxer. The one that Brenda suggested is the best, just the two straps, one around the nose and one around the neck, they are joined underneath the chin. They are really good, it took Sergeant a few times around the garden to get used to it, but after that, he was fine. Someone said to me 'have you heard the saying 'you lead a cow and a horse but you choke your best friend''.
