Hi everyone,
Charlie's mommy sent an update on how things are going. Charlie is doing better but there has been a very chilling update on the potential slasher(s).
Kat

There has been some progress on Charlie's case. Please bear with me its kind of long and involved.

On Monday Charlie was slashed. On Wednesday a Great Dane in a kennel in his back yard was slashed. On Thursday at 3 in the morning a neighbor heard her dog just going nuts. She went out to check and found 3 teenage boys trying to catch him. She yelled they took off. She called the police.

On Thursday the police visited 3 teenage boys that they suspected. Of course there wasn't any evidence to make an arrest. The reason they visited these boys is because a little less than 3 months ago they were arrested/convicted of torturing/killing over 100 cats. They served weekends in jail for 2 months and had to wear ankle monitors. The ankle monitors came off 2 weeks before all this latest started. A condition of their probation was counseling. These boys were not sent to the state mental hospital because county mental health said they did not meet the criteria. This decision was made after a 45 minute interview with each boy. Is it just me or does this whole thing just seem ludicrous? I find the entire thing unbelievable. I am sooooo angry over this. In the mean time these boys are running around free. There isn't any evidence to arrest them. The lady that caught the boys in her back yard did not get a look at their faces because it was dark. The police are watching them for all the good that will do.

If they do get arrested for this I will be in court when they are. I am collecting everything I can on animal abuse and I will make an appointment with the prosecutor and give him the info. If I have to I will contact the media. The boys are underage so the police can't give any info but I have no such constraints. I will make as much noise as I can and continue to do so until something is done to get these boys off the streets. This just makes me sick!!!!

Charlie is doing much better. He is eating again and seems to be his old self. He was so funny today. I would say "Poor Charlie" and he would stop what he was doing and come over to me and lean against me and give me that "aren't I pitiful" look. LOL. He goes on Friday to get his stitches out. I am so thankful that he is going to be all right

I'm so glad to hear Charlie is okay. Keep us updated. These boys need professional help. I think most of us have heard of the Jeffrey Dahmer types. They usually start out by killing and torturing animals.

I am glad to hear Charlie is healing and getting better. I am also happy to hear that Julie intends to stay on top of this and get justice for her baby.

What I want to know is: how many animals have to get hurt before they wise up? Allegedly these three killed 100 cats! Now it seems they have gone on to larger targets. What will they go after next, kids younger than them? A baby? These kids need serious help, not just sitting in jail or picking up litter on the weekend. If they don't do something now, then who knows where it will end. Also, they need to keep them seperated. If they are together, then they feed each others desire to hurt something and give each other moral support to do it. This is really quite disturbing to me.

I say, an eye for an eye. Get these punks, fence them in, and let the great dane and a few boxers loose on their sorry pathetic asses. Maybe even throw a pit bull in there for good measure. I have no tolerance for this. And what is the deal with these kids parents?

This post is actually from the poster known as chickenz. The name maggie's mom, is my wife, and somehow, I am on under her password. Don't want anyone to think she is a manic like me.

I'm so glad to hear that Charlie is doing better! I can't believe the nerve of those kids. They need to be punished, they can't keep going around hurting everyone's pets.
How ridiculous!!

Thank goodness Charlie and the Great Dane are going to be ok. I agree with chickenz (maggie's mom). What is up with the parents of these kids. Why are they out at 3:00 a.m. anyway? What kind of sick people would do this and hasn't any kind of public statement been made so that people will put their dogs up? Even if the dog is an outside dog, he can be put in a protected place. Why are people soooo dumb sometimes???? Uuuurrrgghhh.

Something similar to what happened to Charlie has happened in Anderson, Indiana. (I live in Muncie, but read both Anderson and Muncie newspapers)

Allegedly, two or three boys shot a defenseless Alaskan malamute 22 times with a BB gun. I'm not sure exactly what happened to these boys (if they were arrested, charged with an offense or whatnot). But what got me was when they found their father and tried to interview him on the evening news. He said that if it were him shooting at the &$%&(^# dog, it would be dead with just one bullet. How pathetic!! With each word out of this maniac's mouth, he left no doubt as to his IQ level.

I totally agree with Maggy's Mom (or chickenz). The perpetrators of these crimes need to be given a taste of their own medicine. Put them in a fenced in area, slash them with a knife or shoot them with a BB gun. Let them see what it feels like!!

Not to diminish the horrible nature of these acts.............but can you imagine that *3* of these kind of people FOUND each other!!

I truly, truly hope the persons responsible are held accountable.

Glad that Charlie is doing better and I'm glad that you'll be there to stand up for these animals.

These boys tortured over 100 cats and they had to jail time on weekends and wear ankle bracelets? I think that they are in need of a little bit more intense punishment and more intense therapy.

I get absolutely livid when I think of people hurting and/or killing defenseless animals. So what if these kids are underage - I think they need a little publicity now (as humiliating and public as possible), so people with animals (or children for that matter) can put a face to the people who are endangering their beloved pets.

Keep us updated on whether they get arrested, if there are more incidents and how the courtroom goes.

Kick some butt for us all!
