turned 5 mos/stopped listening!!

Lulu turned 5 months on the 21st of December. She was doing so well with her training..Sit, stay, come etc.. All of a sudden she has become very disobedient..When I call her and give the commend come--I swear she is flipping me off and runs in the opposite direction..Telling her to sit, she stares at me like she never heard it before...What happened to my little angel!!??

Puppy terrible twos Very common-they get a mind of thier own at that age. Step up the training, keep up the exercise, and take an obedience class if you can. With kind, strict managment this shall pass and your angel will return, well as much as any boxer pup can be an angel

Sophie is doing the same thing at 6 months! I went back to basics and treats for good work....seems to be helping with the "selective listening"

Oh my goodness! I am so glad I stumbled upon this thread. I was so scared that my precious Leila had been kidnapped & Santa left me a little Devil. I call come, she sits & stares, I say sit she walks away. I say down she jumps up me. All training is out the window. I was ready to call Petsmart & say take the diploma back. This is my first boxer so it is heart warming to know, it's just a stage & it will pass. It will pass won't it? If not, I will start pulling my hair.

Okay Leila, get up from bed. Time for a long walk & then a nice training session. Wish me luck!

It will pass I have never found a boxer was totally reliable until they hit about three At least my furbabies!

Chief did this at this age as well! He still acts like a little sometimes! We just had to work with him a little more to get over the stubborness selective hearing! We're making some progress!

my Vinny is the same...it is so frustrating. He used to come when we called him, and sit pretty reliably. Now, it's like he ignores us, and does the opposite. I am also happy it is only a stage. We just really have started giving him treats to reinforce when he actually does come when we call him...he is stubborn. about giving the diploma back

Glad I found this thread. Our puppy is only 11wks old, but it's good to know when he starts doing this, it will pass.
