I don't think he's too thin at all - he looks a very healthy weight for a 10 month old puppy.

You can't expect a puppy to have the musculature of an adult ;) He'll fill out naturally once he matures (about 2 years old +), but you should always be able to see the outline of his last couple of ribs. This is a lean breed ;) and if you can't see any ribs on a boxer, they're actually overweight. I really wouldn't be at all concerned about your guy's weight, and I wouldn't try to change it. It's much healthier for him to remain lean as a puppy and to fill out gradually and naturally as he matures.

Completely Boxer Crazy
I agree with gmacleod, not too thin. Apollo is 2.5 years old and he weighs 53 pounds. I would love for Apollo to look like your boy. He just doesn't eat much and runs a ton. They start to fill out in the second year so I'd say that your boy will put on some more weight. Don't fret, he looks well taken care of.

too thin

Chance is 3 months old and he weighs 20 pounds. Some people ask if we feed him because they say he looks too thin. Our vet said he looks normal. When Chance turn his body or lays down, you could see his ribs. Is that normal?

Thanks.

Yes, it's normal :) When a boxer is just standing normally you should see ribs - just the outline of the last couple of sets, but ribs nonetheless. And that's not when he's turned or stretched out, but just when standing normally. On a great many boxers you don't see those ribs, but those dogs are actually fat and should have something done about it. Boxers are supposed to be a lean breed, closer to greyhound than labrador in body fat when they're at correct weight.

I think he looks just like he should. My Cooper is also ten months old and he is 55 lbs and looks a lot like that. :) He is a gorgeous boy, BTW.

Thanks for the information. We figured that it is ok to see ribs in a boxer. You made us feel better!

Wow you have a big boy for three months.. . our boy was 8 lbs at three months! :) As the others have said, seeing some rib action is normal!
