hi Anne...I'm from Erskine.I got Max from breeders in Whitburn. He's a red brindle a year old now (dob 31-5-99). He's got a great temperament and not badly behaved either. He's not a very big dog but he's great fun. I had a boxer bitch for over 11 years until she died last year. She was my first boxer and it didn't take long before I was hooked.
I only discovered this site a couple of days ago and have alredy created a stooshie by bringing up the subject of cropped ears (I didn't realise it was such an emotive subject. Where in Glasgow are you? david
quote:
Originally posted by anne:

I live in the south side of glasgow near barrhead. We got Cassie from Lesslinn farm in lanarkand she is a lovely dog I think she will have a good temperament too. I have found this board very helpful both before and after I got my boxer and I know if I have any problems I will get good advice here. I think we have to accept that there are some cultural diffreences between here and America for one we are so small compared to them.I know most of the folk crate their dogs do you? I don't and I don't know of anyone who does but I think thats just one of the differing attitudes and no one is right or wrong.

Hi Anne....I know Barrhead and the southside of Glasgow pretty well. I was brought up in Pollok when I was younger and stayed in Neilston for ten years before moving to Erskine. Is cassie your first Boxer? If so, then you will find it a completely different dog to others. They have so much energy and are great fun. I'm still taking Max to obedience classes in Paisley. I think the only reason I'm still taking him is because he loves being around all his "pals"...He loves other dogs but is pretty rough when he plays with him (he leads with a left hook).
nice too hear from you. Let me know how Cassie develops....Best wishes David
quote:
Originally posted by anne:

David, where in Paisley dare your dog traing classes and do they have puppy classes? My hubby and I are looking for classes to take Cassie to. She is my first boxer,my husband wanted a german shepherd but I won . She is great and I really think that boxers have a special personality. My husband was brought up in househillwood in Pollok and I work at the health centre in pollok, we actually stay in Parkouse est which is nearer pollok than barrhead. So it certainly is a small world ..lol..

Hi Anne....I take Max to classes that are held in the church hall opposite the sheriff court in Paisley. They are held on a Tuesday night and start at 7.00. They last for about half an hour and are quite good. Max loves going although he certainly tries my patience cos all he wants to do is play with the other dogs and I end up with blisters on my hands. It's a small world right enough. My wife lived up from Househillwood at Bankbrae Ave and went to Gowanbank School. I was brought up with two german shepherds and I think you will eventually find that you have made the right choice getting a boxer.
