Timberwolf change of formulas

I have been feeding Timberwolf with great results until the last bag I ordered. Samson and Bianca refused to touch it at first, then gradually began eating it - now they both have loose stools. They used to love this food and they did so well on it.

I began researching on the internet and discovered on the dog food analysis site that it looks like they have changed their formulas. This would probably explain their reaction - has anybody else noticed a change? I wonder if they posted the changes somewhere and I just missed it.

It looks like the new formula of Ocean Blue has dried potato product instead of potatoes, chicken fat added into the top 5 ingredients, natural flavors added, and it now contains citric acid.

I guess I am back on the search for a new food ....... :(

I read this somewhere when I was doing a search for a differrent topic and I'm very disappointed. Rolen is now eating the Bison...I don't know if it was effected as much as the Ocean Blue, but I was going to switch formulas very soon. Looks like I'll be looking for a new food too! :(

Yes, some of the formula changes do appear less-than-desirable. They haven't altered the statement on their site about all formulas having 48-52% meat meal inclusion though, even if it now appears a little hard to believe in some instances. I haven't quite decided what to make of that...

I wonder why they changed their formulas? Do you think it was just too expensive for them to make so they decided to go cheaper?

Possibly so - in at least one case it does appear that ingredients have been downgraded to a less expensive alternative. Availability (or lack of it) of ingredients is sometimes another reason.

But manufacturers change their formulas frequently. As a non-scientific estimation, I'd say it's even unusual for a food not to have any changes within the space of, say, 2 years. When it's just an ingredient here or there, or when it's not a positive change, it seems they rarely alert consumers to the fact (no "new improved formula" labels, for example). Which means it's worthwhile paying attention to ingredient lists (most especially if you've an allergic dog) even after you've been using a food for a while.

I wonder if there is enough negative feedback and if they lose enough sales, will they change it back? I guess I never thought of them changing ingredients in dog food much. Too trusting of the manufacturers I guess. Now I know better.

Ugh, I was just switching to this food too. Maybe I'll try the Orijen Fresh Fish instead.

i knew it!

the other day i was ordering the timberwolf for our three dogs and i kept saying to hubby that i think the formulas have changed. he believed me but didn't know what to make of it. i kept saying......I THINK THEY CHANGED THE FOOD. I REALLY DO. and he told me that he noticed a difference in the consistancy of the kibble, too.
we finally found a food that our Zuki was able to keep down and not have acid reflux with and now they go and change the formula. I'M SO UPSET THAT I COULD CRY FOR HER. I'm not easily moved to tears but it took sooooooo long to find a food she could tolerate and now i have to consider changing again because of the chicken fat being so high on the list.
i'm just sick over this.
for our two "boys" we would always switch between the ocean blue, the elk and the lamb. but now what?????? I'M SICK.
i'm so upset that i have to go back to doing extensive research about food again.

p.s.

i just called hubby at work to tell him about this timberwolf change and he reminded me that Liam's coat has been looking dull. we attributed it to the heat being on in the house and the cold weather but now we are wondering if it's the change in the formula.
he also reminded me that we've had to give Zuki some extra doses of her acid reflux medication over the last few weeks.
UGH
I FEEL LIKE A NEGLECTFUL MOTHER

well i wasnt as upset at first as i am now about this,i currently feed my argos ocean blue, after carefully reading the "new" list im comparison to the old,im astonished the owners of TO dismiss this so lightly as an oversight or slight mishap, chicken fat inclusion, sodium selenite inclusion, potato products, wow,,,,,,,those are pretty big things that a company just missed somehow, ive always had great feelings about TO ,but clearly this seems almost like a bait and switch to me.i wont play games with the health of my dog at the expense of the greed of a company who cannot handle the simplest of tasks like knowing what goes into your food.
