A question for all the Orgeon-ians out there, how to cope with walking your babies in the rain? Is it really messy? Here in Arizona, we can't even walk Debo unless it's in the middle of the night during the summer. How do your schedules change in the winter?

We'd love to have you!
It does rain a lot, but it is a different kind of raining. Generally it's off-and-on rain. Not a continuous downpour, although we certainly get those too!

Our dogs have a covered outdoor kennel area with a doggie door into the shed.
You just have to take shorter walks in between the rain. And keep a throw rug and towel near the door when they come in to wipe muddy paws.

Where in Oregon are you considering moving? Eastern Oregon is a different animal altogether than the Willamette Valley. Eastern Oregon has much more severe weather (very hot to extremely cold) and is more desert. The Willamette Valley is more wet and milder climate (rarely snows; 90 degrees is extremely hot for us).

I am not in OR. but in the Seattle area of WA. and we get a lot of rain. I put my rain slicker on and then my boys have their own cute rain slickers that they wear and off we go. My husband makes fun of us, but I think that we look cute.

Lets see, I agree with Linda it really depends on what half of the state your moving to. But we keep a towel next to the door to wipe Lacies feet with. During the winter i play a lot of indoor games, hide and seek, fetch ect. Also my doggy daycare has inside and outside areas for play. Let us know when your coming and what area your moving too, maybe you could come to Lindas boxer play night!! cindy

You guys are sooo nice!!! We don't know where and are not expecting to move until one year - BUT it's just too hot out here in Arizona and NOTHING to do (we come from California Bay Area and there was ALWAYS pleanty to do - we miss the redwoods and all the green - it's hard to hibernate for 3-4 months at a time - but figure if we have to - we'd rather hibernate in the rain - you can always dry off - out here, it's just too darn hot to do ANYTHING! I don't know where in Oregon I believe our companies are in (husband's) Portland, OR and mine is in Dupont, Washington. I believe that's too far of a commute if we live in the center, so I don't know, but thanks for the insight! I may have more questions in the coming months.

ps If you like the snow, just think of skiing at Mt.Hood, if you like the ocean just think of being less than a hour away!
