The Vaccuum Cleaner Effect

My dog has never had a traumatic experience with our vaccuum cleaner nor anyone elses . . . yet he feels the need to bark ferociously at it as I vaccuum the house. Tonight as he was doing this, I accidently sucked up his thin little leash, while it was still attached to him. He didn't even notice he was too busy trying to keep the vaccuum cleaner in line.

That is so funny you mentioned the vacuum cleaner; Ruby HATES our vacuum cleaner. She follows it around when I vacuum but then the attachment comes off and she goes berzerk! She thinks it's some sort of horrendous creature trying to attack me and she has to save me. She barks and barks at it, and growls then bites it. Its kinda funny. She also hates the push broom and tries to kill it.

Remy used to do the same thing with the lawn mower. I was always afraid he'd get too close. Once several years ago, he jumped our 4' fence in the backyard to "chase" the neighbor's lawnmower.

Buckaroo hate the vacuum too. He does not like the broom either. And when I pick up his toys and put them in the toy box...He just brings them back out. He gets really upset when I find where he "buried" them. Just crazy isn't it...?

Roxie loves to play with the vacuum!

She once got hold of the bag and ripped out the zipper. She also love to go after a broom or rake. She is such a big help around the house.

Our Ttakas LOVES the vacuum cleaner and insists on lying down right where you want to vacuum! He does this so that he gets vacuumed too! My husband does the vacuuming in our house and every so often we hear 'Move, you big bugger'!!! Ttakas sulks if he doesn't get vacuumed - Bronte on the other hand wants nothing to do with this whirring machine and stays out of the way!

Bama will bark at the vacum and Brutis attacks it. It makes vacuming the house interesting. They also attack the lawn mower, broom, rake, shovel, sprinkler or anything that I touch. Brutis will take small logs and put them where I am mowing the lawn so that I have to stop mowing and and move the stick. Luckily my husband caught Brutis in the corner of his eye, Erik was cutting down some small trees with the cain saw and he saw Brutis just in the nick of time as he was going to attack the chain of the chain saw. I would hate to think of the damage if Erik had not had seen Brutis and he would have got a hold of the chain saw.

Well at least I now know that Oscar isn't the only total Spaz. Oscar (6 months old - 55 lbs) goes after; Vaccuum, Lawn Mower, Broom, Mop, Shovel, Rake, Any stick I try to pick up (even if it is 5 times his length), ride-on mower, kid's toys, and his all time favorite.....ANYTHING I try to plant in the backyard!

it must be a boxer thing! harley can't deal with the vacuum!i have 2...an upright and a cannister. the cannister doesn't do a great job but is quiter.he really hates the upright!!!
one of the deals i made with my hubby jb when we got harley was to have the carpet cleaned soon as harley was house broken. still waiting for that! LOL so i decided to buy a carpet cleaner and do it myself! now i sit and look at the new unused cleaner and wonder when i will do this. jeez i can barely run the vacuum because of harley. i can just imagine what he'll do to a carpet cleaner!
