There's a blind person who loves a couple blocks from me who uses a German Shepard service dog. I've noticed before that the dog will get distracted by Cosworth so I try to give them a very wide berth. This weekend however I found myself near a blind corner when they came by across my path. I pulled Cosworth close, even though he was being quiet and disinterested. The service dog however stared at him intently as he walked by... and straight headlong into a tree.

Wow. I think you have to dig pretty far into the etiquette handbook to find the appropriate response to that one. So of course I just stood there with my mouth open. The owner said, "GD-it Ruffus! What are you doing?" The dog laid down and looked very embarrassed and then they quickly continued on their way.

Wow.

wackicon Oooooops!

Next time you should probably call out to the gentle man that there is a tree coming up. I would definintely mention to him that his faithful companion is somewhat distracted. It would be horrible if something tragic happened to him and it was because Ruffus had let down his guard and 'no one' had brought it to his attention.

Cosworth you are apparently just too much fun and entertaining for everyones good!

OOOOPS I guess next time you will have to say something since Cosworth is so damn distracting and warn them of Objects and cars and such

I don't know about that, but let me explain. I live just outside of Washington DC, a few blocks from a metro station (subway). In the years I've been here I've seen this woman (it's a woman) going back and forth to work in the mornings and evenings with her dog. I have to think that her independance is something that is very, very important to her, even if it means bumping into the occational tree.

Also the tree was one of the cherry trees that they plant in the space between the sidewalk and the street (National Cherry Blossom Festival), so she wasn't so far off course that she was walking into traffic or something. I didn't even know that they were off course until the whack.
